Job Description

Paytm is seeking a Staff / Sr. Staff Product Designer to lead design in critical product areas, solving complex, ambiguous problems and setting the benchmark for design quality. This role involves hands-on craft leadership, driving ownership from problem framing to polished solutions, and elevating team craft through mentorship. The designer will also shape design systems, influence senior stakeholders, and proactively identify opportunities to deliver north-star experiences.
Must Have:
  • Lead design in critical product areas, breaking down complexity into elegant, scalable solutions
  • Deliver exemplary design work that defines the standard of craft across the design org
  • Stay deeply involved in execution, producing high-impact design work
  • Take full accountability for outcomes — from problem framing to polished, system-ready solutions
  • Mentor and guide designers, raising the bar in problem solving, product thinking, and execution quality
  • Extend and influence design systems, ensuring consistency and scalability
  • Clearly articulate design rationale to senior stakeholders, shaping decisions and aligning cross-functional teams
  • Identify opportunities proactively and lead design explorations without waiting for direction
  • 6–9 years of product design experience with a track record of solving complex, high-scale challenges
  • Portfolio demonstrating mastery in craft and problem solving (interaction depth, visual polish, systems thinking)
  • Strong ability to translate ambiguity into clarity and deliver north-star experiences
  • Recognized as a go-to problem solver for complex design challenges
  • Experience mentoring mid-to-senior designers and driving org-wide uplift in craft
  • Strong product sense, balancing user needs, business impact, and technical feasibility
  • Self-driven, outcome-oriented, and uncompromising on craft quality
