Department Overview
The Project Manager is responsible for the delivery of projects of work for Motorola’s customers.
The objective of this role is to professionally delivery projects, both internally and externally, that satisfy the key objectives while minimising interruption to a critical operating environment. The Project Manager will operate in a ‘client centric’ capacity.
• The Project Manager will report functionally to the Project Director.
• The Project Manager has functional management over Motorola assigned project resources and external sub-contractors negotiated for the completion of specific project related tasks.
• The Project Manager will undertake proposals and projects in close cooperation with the business development objectives identified by the Account Management team and through close and effective liaison with many functional groups within Motorola.
Job Description
Project Delivery
- Deliver projects, in parallel, in accordance with Motorola PMO guidelines;
- Overall responsibility for the delivery of assigned projects while minimising operational impact to existing systems.
- Identification and supervision of appropriate project resources.
- Accurate estimation of work and resources required to complete tasks.
- Manage delivery of project documentation in accordance with customer and Motorola’s requirements.
- Create and execute high quality project schedules (including, work breakdown and task structure, resource loading, dependencies, milestones, etc.).
- Manage the handover of project delivery items to operations support.
- Coordinate, manage, monitor and control allocated projects and programs, within schedule, cost and technical constraints.
- Develop and maintain project schedule including, as required:
- Project work breakdown structure.
- Project statement of work.
- Project schedule.
- Complete projects in accordance with contracts, subject to external constraints, and advise customers of potential delinquency.
- Develop and maintain project risk management plan.
- Identify, negotiate, task and monitor appropriate resources.
- Maintain close liaison with customer project staff.
- Develop and maintain project financial status documentation.
- Provides project status reports as required.
Stakeholder Management
- Act as primary customer contact for project activities, leading project review sessions with customer.
- Establish and maintain very close working relationships with the customer and customer project teams as applicable.
- Manage and escalate project issues internally and externally.
- Meeting and exceeding customer scope, schedule and quality expectations.
- Management of subcontractors and third-party suppliers.
- Review pre-sales opportunities to ensure successful estimation and realistic expectations are set early.
- Select and manage third party service providers for use in system solutions. Assess the capabilities of vendors and vendors’ products and services to satisfy a complete system implementation.
- Promote customer satisfaction while maintaining compliance to Motorola Quality principles and values.
Quality & Risk
- Report on project progress and health regularly and as expected.
- Report on financial status of projects internally on regular basis.
- Assessment and management of project risks.
- Identify an unambiguous requirement baseline and manage scope, including opportunities, appropriately.

Basic Requirements
Essential:
- Tertiary qualifications and/or certification in Project Management or Business Management (PRINCE2, PMBOK).
- Experience with project scheduling software (MS Project, P6, or similar).
Essential:
- Minimum of 2 years multi-disciplinary experience in project management within the information technology and/or telecommunications industry.
Desirable:
- Tertiary qualifications in Engineering (Communications, Electrical / Electronic), Information Technology or related discipline.
Desirable:
- Experience in radio communications or communications infrastructure projects.
- Experience in Systems Engineering or Defence Engineering principles.
- Contract and financial management.
