Job Description
The objective is to guarantee that all projects are completed within the specified time and budget constraints, meeting all requirements.
Your key responsibilities will be:
- Collaborate with engineers, operations team, etc. to determine the specifications of the project.
- Determine needed resources (manpower, equipment and materials) from start to finish with attention to budgetary limitations.
- Plan all construction operations and schedule intermediate phases to ensure deadlines will be met.
- Acquire equipment and material and monitor stocks to timely handle inadequacies.
- Evaluate progress and prepare detailed reports.
- Ensure adherence to all health and safety standards and report issues.
- Planning: To effectively manage time, finances, and materials for the construction project, a project plan is essential. This means making a detailed plan and watching it closely to stay on schedule.
- Formwork Instructor Teams: The project manager will give teams ownership over his/her work. He/She must also supervise them to make sure the work is being done on time, within budget and meeting quality expectations.
- Setting Goals: Projects have goals determined by the client. The project manager must communicate those goals to the team and make sure they meet them. That includes performance, the precision of the work, meeting any requirements, etc. These goals will help the project manager establish how many team members and resources they need to achieve those goals.
- Meeting Deadlines: The schedule is one of the major constraints that will consume any conscientious construction project manager. There’s a larger timeframe that outlines when the project must be completed, but within that, there are dozens of milestones that must be met. Meeting deadlines is a crucial task for project manager
- Staying on Budget: The other major constraint is cost. Construction projects are costly, and money is always an issue. The project manager monitors costs throughout the life cycle of the project. Make sure the team stays within budget by creating an accurate project estimate and keeping track of their expenses.
- Updating Stakeholders: Most construction projects are extensive and it’s easy to get lost in the day-to-day activities. But a project manager is also reporting back to the client. The client wants to know that progress is following the schedule and that the costs are within the bounds of the budget. They will expect regular presentations to show progress and performance are meeting the planned effort. It’s the job of the construction project manager to manage expectations.
- Keeping the Peace: The capacity of a project manager to resolve conflicts satisfactorily is as important as managing cost and time. If the crew, subcontractors, client, third-party vendors, et al., are not getting along, the schedule and budget will inevitably suffer. The project manager needs to smooth out any friction before the situation explodes.
- Managing Risk: There’s always a potential for something to go wrong in a project. The project managers must detect and solve problems early on to avoid issues with the project's schedule, budget, or quality. This starts in the planning stage, but one must remain vigilant throughout the life cycle of the project.

Qualifications
Your Professional Requirements:
- At least a Diploma in Project Management and/or Engineering and/or Business/Sales Management, and/or Quantity survey
- Some initial experience in Project Management within a robust MNC environment in Malaysia, ideally gained from an industry supplying the construction sector.
- Very good skilled with Microsoft Office, particularly proficient in MS Excel
- Strong interpersonal, communication, organization, follow-up and negotiation skills and a strong numerical aptitude
- Team oriented, positive attitude and personal effectiveness and credibility
- Outstanding written and verbal English skills
- Ability to speak mandarin is an advantage.
- In-depth understanding of construction procedures and material and project management principles
- Familiarity with quality and health and safety standards
- Familiarity with construction/ project management software
- Outstanding communication and negotiation skills
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills
- A team player with leadership abilities
