Job Summary

APM Terminals, Pipavav is seeking a Reliability Engineer to lead the terminal Reliability team and foster a culture of continuous improvement. The role involves ensuring all terminal equipment and facilities operate at optimum reliability and availability, meeting operational requirements. The engineer will provide subject matter expertise in equipment reliability management, offering specialized knowledge, guidance, and support to terminal personnel.

Must Have

  • Lead the terminal Reliability team.
  • Ensure optimum reliability and availability of terminal equipment.
  • Implement continuous improvement processes for equipment failures.
  • Monitor equipment reliability and availability statistics.
  • Lead defect elimination/root cause analysis reviews.
  • Conduct/commission FMECA or similar studies.
  • Develop a long-term strategy for reliability management.
  • Develop a team of discipline/trade specialists.
  • University degree in Mechanical/Electrical/Electronic/Communication/Mechatronics Engineering.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in reliability management, CBM program implementation and Asset Maintenance operations.
  • Skilled in CBM programs (Ultrasound, Thermography, Vibration, Oil Analysis, NDT inspections).
  • Strong knowledge of reliability tools and methodologies (RCM, FMEA, RCA, Weibull analysis, FTA).
  • Ability to analyse equipment performance data and interpret trends.
  • Knowledge of heavy machinery systems (mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, structural).
  • Understanding of preventive and condition-based maintenance strategy development.
  • Experience executing RCFA investigations and implementing corrective actions.
  • Experience in reliability project management and exposure to project controls.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent reporting, documentation, and communication skills.

Good to Have

  • Professional certifications: CRE, Vibration Analysis (CAT I/II), Thermography, or Lubrication Analyst.
  • Membership of an appropriate reliability/CBM and or engineering professional organisation.
  • Knowledge of asset management frameworks (ISO 55000, TPM, Lean Maintenance).
  • Ability to create life cycle cost (LCC) analysis.
  • Sensitive to cultural diversity and experience in a multicultural environment.

APM Terminals

We are seeking Reliability Engineer the Procurement function at APM Terminals, Pipavav. The person will lead the terminal Reliability team, building a culture of continuous improvement. Ensure all terminal equipment and facilities perform at their optimum level of reliability and availability, meeting or exceeding operational requirements. Provide subject matter expertise for equipment reliability management within the local terminal. Proactively provide specialised reliability knowledge, guidance and support to all terminal personnel, as required.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

HEALTH SAFETY & ENVIRONMENTAL

  • Contribute to maintaining a strong safety culture within APMT operations, leading by example
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and constant drive towards incident free operations, through the elimination of equipment defects or operational risks
  • Improve energy efficiency by using natural resources effectively and efficiently, protecting the natural environment

PERFORMANCE/OPERATIONAL

  • Continually review equipment breakdowns, corrective maintenance and preventive maintenance history, implementing a process of continual improvement to eliminate major or repetitive failures
  • Monitor equipment reliability and availability statistics and support the terminal to improve overall equipment availability & reliability to achieve operational service requirements
  • Contribute to global APMT reliability forums, exchanging data and sharing best practice to improve global equipment maintenance strategies
  • Provide input or professional advice for special reliability improvement projects
  • Lead defect elimination/root cause analysis reviews for major or repetitive failures
  • Contribute to incident and damage investigations as required
  • Conduct/commission FMECA or similar studies on new or modified terminal equipment, ensuring the most effective methods of maintenance are selected
  • Review quality of maintenance and repair reporting and suggest improvements where required
  • Ensure equipment reliability and availability KPIs are correctly reported

STRATEGY

  • Develop a long-term strategy for reliability management within the terminal Asset Maintenance department, focusing on improving competency and understanding of equipment reliability and ultimately establishing reliability engineering as an integral part of daily operations

ASSET INTEGRITY

  • Participate in equipment inspections and surveys and assist with the analysis of results
  • Enhance asset integrity through increased equipment reliability

RESOURCE MANAGEMENT

  • Develop a team of discipline/trade specialists, focused on improving asset safety and reliability and resolving complex technical issues
  • Develop and maintain a list of external reliability and condition monitoring resources and contacts for any specialised reliability management services that may be outside of the normal remit of the terminals

PEOPLE/COMMUNICATIONS

  • Promote best practice in reliability engineering by ensuring that the right knowledge is available throughout the terminals’ maintenance team

COST MANAGEMENT

  • Assist the Local Head of Asset Maintenance to develop and control departmental budgets
  • Develop strategies for the optimization and management of maintenance and repair costs through improved reliability and support the implementation of cost optimization measures for terminal
  • Work collaboratively with other Asset Maintenance disciplines and terminal staff to ensure that the reliability and availability of terminal equipment and vehicles is sustained, and maximum benefits are achieved in terms of cost and quality control
  • Participate and contribute to the APMT reliability community
  • Measure and benchmark local reliability skills and knowledge in the terminal in the continuous drive for learning
  • Ensure clear communication with the internal clients.
  • Ensure compliance with APMT Group values and business principles.

CRITICAL QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum university degree in related industry
  • Mechanical/Electrical/ Electronic/ Communication/ Mechatronics Engineer level (or local country equivalent)
  • Professional certifications preferred: CRE (Certified Reliability Engineer), Vibration Analysis (CAT I/II), Thermography, or Lubrication Analyst.
  • Membership of an appropriate reliability/CBM and or engineering professional organisation.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in reliability management, CBM program implementation and Asset Maintenance operations.
  • Skilled and highly experience in CBM programs (Ultrasound, Thermography, Vibration, Oil Analysis, and NDT inspections)
