Job Summary
Maersk Logistics & Services Canada, Inc is seeking a Senior Operations Manager to oversee end-to-end warehousing and distribution logistics. This role involves planning, scheduling, and managing daily departmental activities to meet KPIs, focusing on shipping/receiving, picking/packing, inventory, and value-added services. The manager will leverage continuous improvement methods, perform managerial functions like coaching and performance reviews, and ensure compliance with company policies. Key responsibilities include managing operating budgets, establishing productivity standards, and maintaining efficient service while ensuring quality, safety, and loss prevention.
Must Have
- Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS)
- Five to ten years related experience
- Fluency in French
- Plan, schedule, and manage daily work activities to meet KPIs
- Oversight of shipping/receiving, picking/packing, inventory, VAS activities
- Experience in rapid carton throughput (import/domestic consolidation)
- Manage store delivery: unloading, sorting, segregating, palletizing, load out
- Leverage continuous improvement for productivity and accuracy
- Perform managerial functions: mentoring, coaching, performance reviews
- Ensure compliance with company, government, and customer policies
- Implement and maintain operational functions for quality, safety
- Establish productivity, quality control standards; develop budget controls
- Manage operating budgets, cost analysis, P&L accountability
- Work with associates to ensure consistent procedure adherence

Key responsibilities
- Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Plans, schedules, and manages the daily work activities within the departments to meet or exceed established key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Distribution focus: oversight of shipping/receiving, picking/packing, inventory and VAS activities.
- Experienced in rapid carton throughput – import deconsolidation/domestic consolidation
- Store delivery focus: unloading, sorting, segregating, palletizing, load out. Leverages continuous improvement methods to enhance labor productivity and process accuracy while maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
- Performs managerial functions, such as, mentoring, coaching, administering performance reviews, conducting disciplinary actions and interviewing employment candidates.
- Trains and ensures all assigned associates are aware of and comply with company, government and customer policies, procedures and regulations.
- Implements, improves and maintains the operational functions of the departments while achieving effective and efficient service to the customer with a focus on quality, productivity, safety and loss prevention.
- Establishes productivity and quality control standards, develops budget and cost controls, and obtains adherence through follow up and due diligence.
- Manages operating budgets to meet the planned volume for the year including cost analysis, P&L accountability and labor productivity.
- Works directly with all levels of associates to ensure procedures are followed consistently and best practices are adhered to regularly.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Manages up to 10 employees with an additional 150+ indirect reports including picking, put-away, shipping and inventory control departments.
- Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these operational units. Responsibilities include manpower planning, assigning and directing work assignments, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems.
We are looking for
- Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS);
- Five to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Fluency in French is required. Bilingualism (French and English) is preferred, as the role involves working with both French and English-speaking clients.
- Various levels of P&L experience highly desired.

Wage - $125,000
*The above stated pay range is the anticipated starting salary range for the position. The Company may adjust this range in light of prevailing market conditions and other factors such as location. The Company will work directly with the selected candidate(s) on the final starting salary in accordance with all applicable laws.
