Job Description

This role is part of the Strategy & Market Intelligence Asia team, focusing on supporting Springer Nature's business growth across Asia, particularly in China and India. The manager will advise on market-specific insights and actionable strategies by tracking market intelligence, monitoring performance, and analyzing publishing data. The position involves identifying opportunities and risks, providing data reports to showcase product value, and delivering data-driven insights to inform strategies for the India market.

Must Have:
  • Bachelor’s degree or above in STEM subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics)
  • 5+ year experience in data analysis and reporting
  • Support India leadership on India mid-term-plan strategy
  • Provide India research market intelligence including market growth, key trends, competitive landscapes
  • Conduct institutional analysis to inform prioritization of institutions
  • Monitor Springer Nature journal article and book publishing performance in India
  • Assess the impact of key policies on the research market and Springer Nature business
  • Create innovative market or customer specific data report to support Institutional Sales
  • Provide data driven insights of India research market and customers to global research projects
  • Provide other research or data analysis supports to India leadership team when needed
  • Support strategy or market intelligence projects for other Asian markets when possible
  • Strong logical thinking, and strategic thinking
  • Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to identify patterns, interpret data, and translate insights into strategic recommendations
  • Proficiency in power point presentations with the ability to write logical and clear storylines and visualization of data
  • Proficiency in Excel and other analytical tools like Tableau and Power BI
  • Strong interpersonal skills, collaborative, adaptable and positive attitude
  • Independent thinker, emotional intelligence
  • Excellent oral and written communication in English

About the Role

This role is part of Strategy & Market Intelligence Asia team – we aim to support Springer Nature business growth across all business units in Asia markets, with a focus in China and India, by advising market specific insights and actionable strategies. We do this by tracking market intelligence and Springer Nature performance in those markets to identify opportunities and risks, providing data reports to showcase Springer Nature product value to local customers, and analyzing publishing performance in local markets to deliver data-driven insights and inform strategies.

We’re seeking a strategy manager role to focus on India market and strengthen our analysis and strategy support to this strategic growth market. Reporting to Director of Strategy & Market Intelligence Asia, the strategy manager will also work with India leadership team and global business leaders to provide India market specific actional insights and strategies to drive business growth in the market.

Responsibilities

  • Support India leadership on India mid-term-plan strategy
  • Provide India research market intelligence including market growth, key trends, competitive landscapes to inform strategic decisions
  • Conduct institutional analysis to inform prioritization of institutions in community engagement activities to maximize impact
  • Monitor Springer Nature journal article and book publishing performance in India against budget and against other markets, and analyze publishing performance indicators by portfolio, to identify opportunities and gaps and give actional recommendations for growing more quality contents from India
  • Assess the impact of key policies on the research market and Springer Nature business
  • Create innovative market or customer specific data report, to showcase Springer Nature product value to support Institutional Sales, and to support Healthcare or other sales teams in data-driven proposals or lead generation
  • Provide data driven insights of India research market and customers to global research projects, or to global product development when needed.
  • Provide other research or data analysis supports to India leadership team when needed
  • Support strategy or market intelligence projects for other Asian markets when possible

Qualifications and Experiences

  • Bachelor’s degree or above in STEM subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics)
  • 5+ year experience in data analysis and reporting; experience in strategy is a plus
  • Experience in STM publishing is preferred
