Job Summary

Fool's Theory is seeking a Senior Cinematic Designer for a fixed-term contract to work on a project with CD PROJEKT RED. The role involves collaborating with animation, art, and design teams to build high-quality cinematics in Unreal Engine, processing character animations, visual effects, and camera work, and independently maintaining cinematics in an iterative environment. The designer will also champion cinematic tools and workflows and supervise team members.

Must Have

  • Collaborate with Animation, Art, and Design to build exciting cinematics.
  • Build high quality blockout cinematics in Unreal.
  • Process and integrate character animations, visual effects, and camera work.
  • Independently maintain and handle cinematics.
  • Deep understanding of cinematic language, camera work and editing.
  • Excellent proficiency in Unreal Engine and Sequencer.
  • Knowledge of Motion Builder.

Good to Have

  • Knowledge of composition and cinematography, with the ability to analyse and apply these principles.
  • Takes initiative to do creative cross-departmental brainstorming.
  • Experience in non-linear storytelling.
  • Experience with Adobe Premiere.
  • Knowledge of lighting and colour theory.

We are actively seeking skilled individuals to join our team to work on a project developed in cooperation with CD PROJEKT RED.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Animation, Art, and Design to build exciting cinematics.
  • Build high quality blockout cinematics in Unreal.
  • Process and integrate character animations, visual effects, and camera work.
  • Independently maintain and handle cinematics in a highly iterative environment.
  • Consult on the planning of cinematic team goals.
  • Troubleshoot problems in a collaborative and communicative way.
  • Champion the development and refinement of cinematic tools and workflows.
  • Supervise members of the team and coach them to success through reviews and mentorship.
  • In addition to core responsibilities, you will be encouraged to take ownership of key features with minimal direction, in support of the Cinematic Design Lead and the Cinematics team.

Requirements

  • Deep understanding of cinematic language, camera work and editing.
  • Excellent proficiency in Unreal Engine and Sequencer.
  • Knowledge of Motion Builder.
  • Open mind and willingness to discuss and learn
  • Takes initiative, anticipating team needs and producing appropriate solutions.
  • Proactive demeanour and strong problem-solving skills.
