The Atom CPU Circuit Technology team at Intel is seeking a highly motivated Digital Circuit Design Engineer to work on full custom and memory circuits within a high-performance, low-power CPU design group. This role involves a wide range of circuit activities, from technical readiness and device characterization to bit-cell simulations, critical path simulations, and designing custom blocks to meet stringent Power/Performance/Area constraints. The engineer will contribute to creating world-changing technology.
Must have:
  • Design, develop, and build custom digital circuits for a CPU, including memory and caches.
  • Design floorplans, perform circuit design, schematic entry, simulation for CPU blocks, and verify functionality.
  • Optimize custom circuits for CPU power, performance, area, timing, and yield goals.
  • Create block level DFT models, develop memory test tools, and improve and automate flows and methodologies.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to report design progress and resolve performance and CPU design issues.
  • Optimize performance, power, and area, reduce leakage of CPU circuits, and drive characterization of memory instances and compilers.
  • Work with CPU architecture and layout teams to design circuits for best functionality, robustness, and electrical capabilities.
Good to have:
  • Experience in Complementary MOS (CMOS) circuits design.
  • Experience in Digital logic and optimizations, including circuit design trade-off for power, performance and area.
  • Experience in Very Large-Scale Integration (VLSI).
  • Experience in Low power implementation techniques.

Who We Are

The Atom CPU Circuit Technology team is looking for a highly motivated and technically savvy individual to join our team as Digital Circuit design engineer to work on full custom and memory circuits. This will be a fast-paced dynamic environment where you will work in the high performance, low power CPU design group on a wide spectrum of circuit activities ranging from technical readiness, device and/or cell characterization, bit-cell simulations, critical path simulations and design custom blocks to meet stringent Power/Performance/Area constraints

Who You Are

Your responsibilities are as follows but not limited to:

  • Designs, develops, and builds custom digital circuits for a CPU, including memory and caches.
  • Designs floorplans, performs circuit design, schematic entry, simulation for CPU blocks, and verifies functionality to optimize custom circuit for CPU power, performance, area, timing, and yield goals.
  • Creates block level DFT models, develops memory test tools, and improves and automates flows and methodologies to ensure streamlining of design.
  • Collaborates cross functionally to report design progress and to collect, track, and resolve any performance and CPU design issues.
  • Optimizes performance, power, and area, reduce leakage of CPU circuits, and drives characterization of individual memory instances and memory compilers.
  • Works with CPU architecture and layout teams to design circuit for best functionality, robustness, and electrical capabilities.

Qualifications:

You must possess the below minimum education requirements and minimum required qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Additional preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering and/or Computer Engineering or any STEM related degree with 4+ years of experience in a high-tech company -OR- PhD in electrical engineering and/or computer engineering or any STEM related degree with 2+ years of experience in a high-tech company.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in Complementary MOS (CMOS) circuits design
  • Experience in Digital logic and optimizations. Circuit design trade-off for power, performance and area
  • Experience in Very Large-Scale Integration (VLSI)
  • Experience in Low power implementation techniques
  • Experience in Memory design experience

Annual Salary Range for jobs which could be performed in the US:

$177,200.00-$250,160.00

Salary range dependent on a number of factors including location and experience.

Work Model for this Role

This role will be eligible for our hybrid work model which allows employees to split their time between working on-site at their assigned Intel site and off-site. * Job posting details (such as work model, location or time type) are subject to change.
