Job Description

As a Senior Environment Artist, you will create high-quality visuals in line with the art direction while collaborating with level designers to bring environments to life. Daily responsibilities include collaborating with other departments to build environments from conception to final quality, creating and maintaining a library of hard surface modular architectural assets, producing high-quality, performant visuals, communicating effectively across disciplines, and anticipating and mitigating potential issues. The role is based in Sofia, Bulgaria and can be offered as hybrid, in-studio, or fully remote within the country.
Must have:
  • Highly experienced environment artist specializing in hard surface modular environment creation.
  • Excellent modeling and asset creation skills.
  • Excellent visual awareness and artistic ability.
  • Experience working in a professional creative environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Good to have:
  • Knowledge of custom normal workflows (Weighted normals).
  • Passion for sci-fi environment art.
  • Strong technical skills within Unreal Engine.

Job Details

Creative Assembly is looking for an experienced Senior Environment Artist to join our talented team to work on our new project, a sequel to Alien: Isolation.  This role will be based at our studio in Sofia, Bulgaria and can be offered as hybrid / in-studio / fully remote within country of employment. Further details can be discussed during the recruitment process. As a Senior Environment Artist on the team, you will be creating high quality, performant visuals in line with art direction while collaborating with level designers to bring environments to life.  
On a day-to-day basis, you will: 

  • Collaborate with other departments such as level design to build environments all the way from conception to a final quality.
  • Create and maintain a library of hard surface modular architectural assets.
  • Produce high quality, performant visuals, as an integral part of the team.
  • Communicate well, with all disciplines, and be well organised.
  • Anticipate issues and work actively to mitigate problems.

 

Knowledge, Skill and Experience  Essential 

  • Highly experienced environment artist with specialization in hard surface modular environment creation.
  • Excellent modelling and asset creation skills.
  • Excellent visual awareness and artistic ability.
  • Experience of working in a professional creative environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Knowledge of: 

  • UE5, Modelling packages such as Blender or equivalent, Substance Designer.
  • Modular environment construction and hard surface modelling techniques.  
  • Experience working and collaborating with other departments to create compelling play spaces.
  • Strong awareness of industry technology trends   

Desirable

  • Knowledge of custom normal workflows. (AKA Weighted normals.)
  • Passion for sci-fi environment art.
  • Strong technical skills within Unreal Engine.
