Job Summary

Two Circles is seeking a Senior Frontend Engineer for a hybrid role in London. This position involves technical leadership, driving engineering excellence, and collaborating on high-impact greenfield products for global sports brands. The engineer will build modern, scalable software, shape fan engagement, and influence technology strategy and engineering culture. Responsibilities include writing clean, reusable code, advocating for developer experience, and leading technical design and architecture.

Must Have

  • Write clean, reusable code following best practices.
  • Lead technical design, architecture, and development of digital projects.
  • Define coding standards and team conventions.
  • Minimum 5+ years experience in software engineering.
  • Proficiency in TypeScript, React, and Next.js.
  • Experience in CI/CD environments (Circle CI, GitHub actions, Azure DevOps).
  • Appreciation for DevOps and platform engineering culture (Azure, AWS, GCP).
  • Experience in agile development, continuous integration, and test automation.
  • Proficiency with monitoring tools (Grafana, Prometheus, Data Dog, Sentry).
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Hybrid work: 2 days/week in London office.

JOB DESCRIPTION

As part of our exciting growth journey, we’re expanding our Software Engineering team and are on the lookout for a talented Senior Software Engineer to join us on a hybrid basis at our London office.

This is a rare chance to work on high-impact greenfield products for some of the biggest and most iconic sports brands in the world. You’ll be at the forefront of building modern, scalable software from the ground up, helping shape the future of fan engagement across global sport.

In this role, you won’t just write great code, you’ll provide technical leadership, drive engineering excellence, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to bring bold ideas to life. Whether it’s advising clients on the right technology solutions or steering innovative consulting projects, you’ll have a seat at the table where strategic tech decisions are made.

You’ll also play a pivotal role in shaping our evolving technology strategy, influencing the direction of our engineering culture and practices while helping us build an environment where developers thrive and create meaningful change.

Key Responsibilities

  • Write clean, and reusable code following best practices whilst helping to define coding standards and team conventions.
  • Be an advocate for developer experience and have a keen interest in continually improving it.
  • Encouraging a blameless culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence.
  • Leading and influencing the technical design, architecture and development of digital projects.
  • Work closely with Engineering Managers, Engineering Leads and Product Managers to understand problems and define technical scope for global sports properties.
  • Setting up software development frameworks for release management, automation, code quality and source control.
  • Providing technical leadership, mentoring and guidance to other engineers.
  • Keeping up to date on emerging technologies and trends in sports technology.
  • Presence in our London office for 2 days a week is encouraged for this role and occasional travel to other offices in London and EMEA will be required at times.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 5+ years experience in software engineering.
  • A high level of proficiency and understanding in TypeScript, React and Next.js with experience in Node.js desirable.
  • Experience in a CI / CD environment where you have utilised tools such as Circle CI, GitHub actions or Azure DevOps etc.
  • An appreciation of DevOps and platform engineering culture. You don't just write code, but you also like to build and ship it, utilising cloud platforms and services, such as Azure, AWS or GCP.
  • Experience in agile development practices, continuous integration and test automation via various methods such as unit, integration, contract and E2E testing.
  • You have a high degree of experience in observing the performance and health of applications via tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, Data Dog, Sentry, etc.
  • You have a strong desire and are an advocate for performant applications.
  • Proactive in solving problems simply and effectively, with an eye for pragmatic solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate with a variety of audiences to explain your solutions and collaborate effectively with others.
  • Experience building services for high traffic systems is desirable.
