Job Summary

Traega Entertainment is seeking a seasoned Senior Gameplay Programmer with extensive Unreal development experience to enhance their current projects. The role involves designing and developing high-quality code for gameplay, animation, and tools within Unreal Engine. Responsibilities include mentoring other programmers, adhering to design methodologies, ensuring code quality, and participating in the design process. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of UE4/UE5 experience, robust C++ programming skills, experience with Unreal Blueprint, and strong 3D math abilities. This is a full-time, remote position based in the US, offering flexible scheduling and health benefits.

Must Have

  • 5+ years UE4/UE5 experience
  • Robust C++ programming experience
  • Unreal Blueprint implementation experience
  • Windows/Visual Studio/Rider knowledge
  • Strong 3D math skills
  • Strong understanding of Unreal Networking/Replication
  • Strong understanding of Epic's Gameplay Ability System (GAS)
  • Strong understanding of Unreal Animations Pipeline
  • Good analysis and problem-solving skills
  • At least one shipped title

Good to Have

  • Multiple shipped titles on any engine
  • Experience in agile environments
  • Working knowledge of latest UE5 functionality
  • Experience with multiplayer products
  • Experience with open world survival craft games
  • Bachelor’s degree in CS, Math, or Physics

Job Description

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design and develop high-quality code, including gameplay, animation, and tools.

  • Mentor and code review other programmers in the techniques and strategies of working with Unreal.

  • Follow adopted design/development methodologies, patterns and toolsets.

  • Pay attention to usability, maintainability and performance of code.

  • Participate in the design process, gathering engineering deliverable requirements from and with other team members.

  • Active team player contributing to team success.

  • Iterate solutions based on broad feedback.

  • Effective communication and teamwork (treat others how you would expect to be treated).

  • Be self-directed, self-critical and prioritize your own work.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • At least 5+ years direct UE4/UE5 experience.

  • Robust programming experience in C++.

  • Robust experience with Unreal Blueprint implementations.

  • Knowledge and comfortable with Windows using Visual Studio and/or Rider.

  • Strong 3D math skills.

  • Strong understanding of Unreal Networking/Replication.

  • Strong understanding of Epic's Gameplay Ability System(GAS).

  • Strong understanding of the Unreal Animations Pipeline.

  • Good analysis and problem-solving skills.

  • At least one shipped title.

 

PLUSES

  • Multiple shipped titles, on any engine, across PC or current generation console hardware.

  • Experience working in an agile environment where your job responsibilities may change often.

  • Working knowledge of latest UE5 functionality.

  • Experience working on a multiplayer product that supports all network modes.

  • Experience working on or playing open world survival craft games.

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, mathematics, physics, or similar.
