Department Overview
Motorola Solutions is seeking a dynamic and creative senior instructional designer/developer. As part of the instructor-led training division of the Global Education team, you will design, develop, and maintain product training and documentation for Motorola Solutions’ technologies and products.
Job Description
- Perform needs analysis for an integrated set of courses of high complexity and scope.
- Create and develop integrated designs encompassing many different products.
- Design, develop, and maintain training assets that support partners, customers, and employees with their use of the MSI product suite, including, but not limited to, instructor guides, student workbooks, powerpoints, and online modules.
- Write concise, technical, and effective instructional content for a variety of deliverables, including lesson plans, guides, online content, and more.
- Create and utilize multimedia elements, simulations, and assessments to enhance the effectiveness of learning materials.
- Develop resolutions to complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of various factors.
- Follow a scalable and repeatable process in the scoping, creation, and maintenance of content.
- Assist with quality assurance activities at various stages of course development to ensure that courses meet team standards.
- Manage and monitor training assets and courses in the LMS.
- Collaborate with SMEs to ensure technical accuracy and relevance of content.
- Work closely with project managers to manage high-impact product portfolios.
- Work closely with team leads to ensure training content is focused on the right content, filling knowledge gaps, and appropriate.
- Mentor the work of less experienced designers and provide guidance on portfolio management skills.
- Navigate and facilitate change management processes related to the implementation of new learning initiatives.
Basic Requirements
Qualifications
- Certification in education, adult education, communications, instructional design, instructional technology, curriculum studies, or a related field
- Typically requires a minimum of 5+ years related experience
Preference will be given to candidates with the following skills and experience:
- Strong written and verbal communications skills
- Strong content organization and structuring skills
- Significant experience with ILT learning design and development models, adult learning principles, and delivery methods
- Intermediate knowledge with graphic editors such as Adobe Indesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop
- Strong background in Google Suite and Microsoft Office applications
- Strong understanding of delivery mechanism/best practices for classroom delivery
- Ability to mentor and coach others
- Experience or interest in using generative AI tools (e.g., Google Gemini, ChatGPT, NotebookLM) in training content development or delivery
- Strong aptitude to learn new technologies and software quickly and be able to convey the meaning of complex concepts clearly to a broad audience
