Job Summary
Reporting to the General Counsel, the Senior Legal Counsel provides high quality legal services across the full range of activities undertaken by Lendi Group, including mortgage broking, buyer’s agent services, mortgage management, franchise operations, technology and data-led services. The role delivers independent, commercially focused legal advice to support strategic initiatives, operational delivery and risk management across the Group.
Must Have
- Provide clear, pragmatic legal advice to management and senior executives
- Drive growth and manage risk through timely, accurate and practical legal advice
- Support the design, development and governance of AI-enabled tools, models and processes
- Draft, review and negotiate a wide range of contracts and commercial agreements
- Provide independent legal advice on National Consumer Credit Protection Act
- Provide independent legal advice on Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing Act
- Provide independent legal advice on Real estate licensing obligations
- Provide independent legal advice on Australian Competition and Consumer Law
- Provide independent legal advice on General corporate and banking law
- Provide independent legal advice on Franchising law and the Franchising Code of Conduct
- Provide independent legal advice on Employment law
- Provide independent legal advice on Intellectual property law
- Partner with business units to support new projects, incidents, business initiatives, acquisitions, regulatory change and improvements
- Assist in managing and strengthening relationships with key regulators, government agencies and industry bodies
- Contribute to the development, improvement and documentation of the legal function’s processes, templates and tools
- Provide legal support and guidance in relation to customer complaints
- Support adherence to company policies, risk appetite and all relevant legislative and regulatory requirements
- Promote and ensure appropriate management of customer information in line with privacy, confidentiality and other regulatory requirements
- Manage and instruct external counsel, including scope and budget
- 6 plus years of legal experience
- Law degree and current practicing certificate
- Ability to proactively identify, understand, communicate and act on current and future risks
- Proven attention to detail, confidentiality, and organisational discipline
- Strong interpersonal skills with ability to build and maintain strong relationships and influence others

The role delivers independent, commercially focused legal advice to support strategic initiatives, operational delivery and risk management across the Group.
Job Description
- Provide clear, pragmatic legal advice to management and senior executives on legal aspects of their areas of responsibility, supporting the ongoing success of the organisation.
- Use legal expertise to drive growth and manage risk through timely, accurate and practical legal advice that enables informed decision making.
- Support the design, development and governance of AI-enabled tools, models and processes, including advising on legal, regulatory, contractual, privacy and ethical requirements.
- Draft, review and negotiate a wide range of contracts and commercial agreements, including supplier, distribution, technology and service arrangements.
- Provide independent legal advice on a range of matters, including:
- National Consumer Credit Protection Act
- Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing Act
- Real estate licensing obligations
- Australian Competition and Consumer Law
- General corporate and banking law
- Franchising law and the Franchising Code of Conduct
- Employment law
- Intellectual property law
- Partner with business units to support new projects, incidents, business initiatives, acquisitions, regulatory change and improvements to systems and products.
- Assist in managing and strengthening relationships with key regulators, government agencies and industry bodies, including ACCC, ASIC, AFCA and MFAA.
- Contribute to the development, improvement and documentation of the legal function’s processes, templates and tools to maximise efficiency and business support.
- Provide legal support and guidance in relation to customer complaints, including complex or escalated matters.
- Support adherence to company policies, risk appetite and all relevant legislative and regulatory requirements, including the NCCP regime.
- Promote and ensure appropriate management of customer information in line with privacy, confidentiality and other regulatory requirements.
- Manage and instruct external counsel, including scope and budget, with a focus on reducing external legal spend and improving service levels and quality of advice.
Qualifications
- 6 plus years of legal experience
- Law degree and current practicing certificate
- Ability to proactively identify, understand, communicate and act on current and future risks
- Proven attention to detail, confidentiality, and organisational discipline.
- Strong interpersonal skills with ability to build and maintain strong relationships and influence others
