As a Sr. Manager, Accounting, you will play a critical role in the Activision Blizzard controllership as well as the worldwide Finance Team.
You will oversee timely and accurate accounting close processes and provide governance and subject matter expertise through our business process outsourcing model, ensuring alignment with internal policies and performance standards. You'll provide thought leadership, guiding successful execution of accounting and financial reporting processes, engaging with stakeholders across ABK. The ideal candidate brings curiosity, innovative thinking, and a strong background in accounting close, business partnering, process management, and collaboration.
Overall, the responsibility of this role is to (1) Governance and Compliance, (2) Issue Resolution and Support, (3) Compliance and Reporting, (4) Process Improvement and Optimization and (5) ensure that we have aligned with all accounting requirements under US GAAP and global accounting policies within your areas of responsibility.
Priorities can often change in a fast-paced environment like ours, so this role includes, but is not limited to, the following responsibilities:
- Serve as a subject matter expert and reviewer supporting outsourced vendor teams responsible for accounting activities. Responsibilities include validating financial close journal entries, balance sheet account reconciliations, analytical reviews, and other reporting deliverables to ensure accuracy and compliance with ABK accounting policies and guidelines. Monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Service Level Agreement (SLA) metrics to assess performance and drive continuous improvement.
- Research, review, and document accounting standards, guidelines, and policies. Field complex questions from business partners in alignment with accounting policies.
- Perform in-depth P&L and BS analysis and respond to inquiries from business and finance partners regarding actual financial performance.
- Provide escalated support and troubleshooting to users. Investigate and resolve business partner inquiries, accounting deviations, and other data anomalies.
- Collaborate with the Technical Accounting team to ensure consistent accounting practices across different regions.
- Partner with the IA and SOX teams to ensure robust controls are in place for all accounting processes.
- Lead global initiatives to standardize, optimize, and automate accounting processes.
- Champion data-driven improvements by identifying opportunities for increased efficiency and accuracy, implementing best practices, and driving continuous process enhancements across key business activities.
- Act as a team lead for critical accounting systems, offering guidance and support to both internal teams and external vendors.
Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Accounting /Finance, or related field AND 7+ years accounting or finance experience
- Extensive experience in accounting close and financial reporting.
- Proven track record in project management, demonstrating the ability to deliver complex projects on time and within scope.
- Experience working with international teams and a strong background in technical accounting is highly desirable.
- CPA preferred but not required
