Job Summary

Verlagsgruppe Oetinger is a leading children's and youth book publisher with over 3,000 books, 500 play products, 5 publishers, and 120 employees. They are seeking a Senior Manager Content Systems & Automation to centrally manage their DAM, acting as a bridge between production, program, marketing, sales, and IT. The role involves owning the DAM and content lifecycle, managing integrations with publishing software, optimizing production-related processes, and contributing to company-wide digitalization projects.

Must Have

  • Centrally manage and develop DAM (Digital Asset Management).
  • Act as a bridge between production, program, marketing, sales, and IT.
  • Steer DAM structures, roles, rights, workflows, metadata, and taxonomies.
  • Build and maintain integrations between DAM, publishing software, CMS/Shop, and ERP.
  • Automate data flows using APIs, XML/CSV, and REST.
  • Manage asset handover, versioning, and quality for print and e-books.
  • Contribute to cross-departmental digitalization projects.
  • Advise departments on digital tool implementation and usage.
  • Provide training and support for internal teams.
  • Possess 3-5+ years of experience in DAM/PIM or related roles.
  • Have practical experience with common DAM systems.
  • Understand pre-press, e-book, and audio asset chains.
  • Demonstrate strong communication and structured work.
  • Experience in stakeholder management and interdisciplinary projects.
  • Proficiency in German and English.

To strengthen our crew, we are looking for a Senior Manager (m/f/d) Content Systems & Automation, who will be centrally responsible for our DAM and act as a bridge between production, program, marketing, sales and IT.

Your tasks

  • Ownership DAM & Content-Lifecycle: Steering, administration and further development of the DAM (structures, roles, rights, workflows, metadata, taxonomies). Introduction of governance & best practices
  • Interfaces to publishing software (Pondus)/ERP/Web: Setup and maintenance of integrations between DAM Biblio (Virtusales), CMS/Shop, ERP and publishing software; automation of data flows (API, XML/CSV, REST)
  • Production-related processes: Handover & versioning of assets from pre-press (covers, 4c images, internal illustrations, reading samples, audio samples); print and e-book approvals (e.g. PDF/X, color profiles), asset quality & completeness
  • Digitalization of company processes: Participation in cross-departmental digitalization projects (e.g. workflow optimization, automation of processes, mapping of production-specific processes in ERP); consulting for departments on the introduction and use of digital tools
  • Training and support for internal teams for optimal use of the systems

Your know-how is required

  • 3–5+ years of experience in DAM/PIM or related roles (Content Operations, Application Management, Media-Workflows), ideally in publishing/media
  • Practical experience with a common DAM (e.g. Celum, Bynder, AEM Assets, Canto, Brandfolder): Ideally familiar with publishing software Biblio (Virtusales) or comparable systems; understanding of title, rights, production and metadata processes
  • Good understanding of pre-press (InDesign-based workflows, image editing, color spaces, PDF/X), as well as e-book/audio asset chains (EPUB3, audio sample)
  • Interface know-how (APIs, XML/CSV, ONIX 3.0), basic knowledge of data modeling & taxonomy
  • Strong communication skills, structured, service-oriented; experience in stakeholder management and in interdisciplinary projects
  • Experience in using AI/AI
  • Good written and spoken German and English skills
