We are seeking a Senior Manager of Engineering to lead and drive engineering teams, focusing on client/server applications, platform development, and user experience. Position Overview:

We are seeking a Senior Manager of Engineering with the expertise to lead and drive our engineering teams towards excellence. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in client/server applications while also possessing significant expertise in platform development and user experience. This position will involve overseeing teams across multiple timezones, ensuring seamless collaboration and effective delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Technical Leadership: Oversee the design, development, and testing of complex, multi-tier software applications. Drive architectural refactoring towards microservices, collaborating with architects on future platform design.
  • Client/Server Expertise: Ensure robust client/server solutions to enhance performance, scalability, and reliability in a distributed environment.
  • Platform and User Experience Focus: Lead modernization initiatives to create adaptable self-service offerings, transforming seller user experiences. Position customer satisfaction and experience at the forefront of engineering designs.
  • Management and Collaboration: Cultivate an engineering culture focused on innovation and continuous improvement. Mentor team structures and workflows to optimize for growth and engineering velocity. Partner with product and business stakeholders as well as other engineering leaders to align technology roadmaps with strategic goals. Build a strong technical team with cultural alignment with eBay core principles.
  • Timezone Collaboration: Efficiently manage and integrate teams across different timezones to harness global talent while overcoming cultural and timezone challenges.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science (Master’s preferred).
  • 10+ years in software development and engineering leadership roles, with a significant focus on client/server, platforms, and user experience.
  • Proven success in migrating monolithic architectures to microservices and implementing scalable, user-focused systems.
  • Proven ability to build teams, attracting strong talent, and developing/mentoring teams to improve overall team performance and NPS.
  • Strong architectural skills and experience in managing distributed engineering teams.
