The Senior Market Analyst will be responsible for data solutions, market analyses, competitive intelligence, strategic scenarios, and customer insights. They will analyze market, competitive, and customer data for the Business Environment Assessment, collaborate with sales and business development, contribute to market forecasting, and create market analysis reports. They will also provide decision support for market strategies and evaluate growth options. The candidate needs to have a strong knowledge of the defense and security industry.
Must have:

The role we are offering you:

Within our Market Analysis and Experience Management team, the Senior Market Analyst – D&S Int’l will own and deliver on various data solutions, market analyses, competitive intelligence, strategic scenarios, and customer insights. You will leverage expertise in identifying data needs, acquiring data, and enriching data to address varied complex business and market opportunities. You will translate your data analytics outputs and results into strategic recommendations and decision support for group leaders and their front-line teams, deciphering the findings into clear messages and visuals for our D&S International business unit. You will help tell the market and our company the story of our simulation equipment, training, operational and technical services, and digital solutions to support the growth of the D&S International business unit.

Be ready for the following responsibilities:

  • In collaboration with the strategic planning team, research and analyze market, competitive, and customer data to help develop D&S International’s annual five-year Business Environment Assessment (BEA)
  • Partner with sales and business development regarding market data, intelligence, and market strategy
  • Contribute to and expand long-term market forecasting capabilities for D&S International business (pilot demand outlook, fleet forecast, simulator forecast, training forecast, etc.)
  • Contribute to management of sources of market, customer, and competitor data and analytics
  • Evolve processes for market intelligence sourcing and distribution
  • Create and deliver on various market analyses, briefings, competitive intelligence reports and other high priority analysis projects, including a D&S monthly market dashboard for internal audiences
  • Develop and provide decision support for market strategies as needed for various D&S International projects and stakeholders, including Directors and VPs
  • Support organic and in-organic growth option evaluations (partnerships, M&A, etc.)
  • Attend industry conferences to gain market insights, understand customer needs, and obtain intel
  • On occasion, support product marketing and special cross-BU projects, including within Civil Aviation

Our ideal candidate has:

  • 10+ years of work experience in market research analysis, preferably in defence and security
  • A bachelor’s degree in Market Research, Business Administration, Statistics, or related field, preferably an MBA
  • Extensive knowledge in market analysis, market segmentation, market strategy, and competitive positioning
  • Familiarity of market dynamics, key players, regulations, trends, and strategic forces in the defense and security industry
  • Advanced analytical skills around data collection, manipulation of data, statistics, forecasting, usage of tools, and data reporting
    • Robust skills in Microsoft Excel are a minimum; skill sets in newer data visualization tools such as Power Bi or Tableau is a plus
    • Familiarity with Janes, GlobalData, Cirium, Aviation Week, and other aviation databases is a plus
  • Strong ability to interpret data and communicate results clearly to internal and external stakeholders; being able to define the ‘So what?’ from the data
  • Critical thinking skills to determine what market strategy would work best
  • Detail-oriented mindset to conduct precise data analysis
  • Prior experience in working with external providers of data and data solutions in defining and managing our needs
  • The ability to influence colleagues with thought leadership
  • Product marketing skills are a plus
  • Passion for collaborating with cross-functional teams
  • A “roll up your sleeves” attitude and a self-starter persona
  • Flexibility to adapt on the fly and tackle ambiguous situations
  • A genuine personality that is confident in sharing new ideas and humble while listening to others
  • Strong problem-solving, team building, project management, and leadership skills
