Job Description

At this level, the incumbent performs complex assignments in office, on site, field, and laboratory. Work activities have an important impact on service delivery, cost effectiveness and training device qualification renewal. He/She should demonstrate the capability to solve the complex simulator and/or aircraft systems problems. Will require leading a shift/team of 2-4 engineers.
Must Have:
  • Perform Preventive Maintenance on simulators.
  • Diagnose and correct simulator problems.
  • Utilize Maintenance Management System.
  • Train junior simulator technicians.
  • Perform visual alignments and evaluate QTG results.
  • Assist Engineering with modifications and software enhancements.
  • Perform refurbishment and hardware modifications.
  • Handle simulator installation and RFT projects.
  • Manage logistics and critical spare follow-up.
  • Manage regulatory qualifications.
  • Provide AOG support.
  • Manage engineering documentation.
  • Provide technical training to other technicians.
  • Perform daily readiness checks on simulators.
  • Perform software changes to correct problems.
  • Coordinate maintenance activities within assigned group/project.
  • Assist management in day-to-day maintenance operations.
  • Comply with CAE Compliance Management System.
  • Provide timely customer service support.
  • Perform administrative tasks as required.
  • Comply with Health, Safety and Environment rules.
  • Coordinate work and assign tasks to team (Shift Leader).
  • Make decisions in absence of management (Shift Leader).
  • Organize work efficiently and motivate others (Shift Leader).
  • Manage part requests, repair orders, calibrations, vendors (Shift Leader).
  • Lead, coach, train, appraise, recruit, and build team (Shift Leader).
  • Identify and correct training deficiencies (Shift Leader).
  • 5-7 years direct simulator experience.
  • 3-year technical degree or equivalent technical training.

About This Role

Summary:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform Preventive Maintenance (PM) tasks on the simulators and associated simulator systems.
  • Assist in diagnosing and correcting problems on the simulators and associated simulator systems.
  • Utilize Maintenance Management System to record and track maintenance activities.
  • Train junior simulator technicians and execute performance reviews.
  • Actively pursue continued professional growth and training.
  • Perform visual alignments, run and evaluate QTG results.
  • Assist Engineering team with modifications, design changes, and software enhancements.
  • Perform refurbishment and hardware modifications.
  • Handling future projects with TM & PM regarding Simulator installation and RFTs.
  • Taking care of Logistics & critical spare follow-up.
  • Managing regulatory qualifications.
  • Providing AOG support.
  • In charge for engineering documentation like Logbook, PMT, QTG, Exports, Imports etc.
  • Diagnose and correct complex problems on training devices
  • Provide technical training for other technicians.
  • Perform daily readiness checks on designated simulator.
  • Actively pursue knowledge and skills to enhance ability as a technical expert.
  • Perform software changes to correct problems on the simulators and associated simulator systems.
  • Coordinate all maintenance activities within an assigned group and / or project.
  • Assist Group Lead/FCT and/or Maintenance Planner & Controller in day-to-day operation of maintenance activities.
  • Learn and comply with CAE Compliance Management System.
  • Provide customer service support and address customer needs in a timely manner.
  • Perform administrative tasks/other duties as required.
  • Is compliant with local and company Health, Safety and Environment rules and regulations.

Addition for Shift Leader:

  • Coordinates work and assigns tasks to the team in close collaboration of technical management and/or Maintenance Planner & Controller
  • Takes responsibility and makes decisions in case of absence of management.
  • Can organize work in an efficient way and is able to motivate others
  • Has excellent peer relationships
  • Managing Part Requests, Repair Orders, Calibrations, contacting vendors.
  • Overall responsibility for leadership, goal setting, coaching/mentoring, training, appraisals, promotions, recruitment, team building, team identity and working environment.
  • Identify and coordinate efforts to correct training deficiencies.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

  • Demonstrated proficiency with software diagnostics and utilities on at least 1 type of simulator.
  • Demonstrated troubleshooting skills
  • Pursue knowledge and skills to enhance ability as a technical expert.
  • Run and evaluate required DGCA/EASA ATG / QTG tests.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform in-depth analysis and research for hardware modifications/upgrades.
  • Demonstrated ability to assist with modifications, design changes, and software enhancements.
  • Demonstrated ability to assist with the development and delivery of technical training for other technicians.
  • Demonstrated ability as the “Technical Expert” on at least one major simulator system (i.e., motion, visual, aircraft systems, etc.).
  • Demonstrated knowledge of MS-Office tools and suite

EDUCATION REQUIRED

3-year technical degree or equivalent related training

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

5-7 years direct simulator experience with at least 3 years of relative simulator experience per assigned location
