Job Description

The Technical Manager at CAE Sydney training center is responsible for overseeing all technical operations, including the maintenance and operation of FSTD and related equipment. This role involves managing a team of simulator engineers and technicians, coordinating new simulator deliveries and updates, and managing an extensive inventory. The manager will also be responsible for regulatory compliance, achieving operational KPIs, budget creation and cost management, ensuring high customer service, implementing quality assurance, and maintaining EHS compliance. Additionally, the role includes HR responsibilities such as talent development and employee management.
Must Have:
  • Min 8 years of relevant experience in technical operations.
  • Responsible for the maintenance and operation of FSTD and related equipment.
  • Responsible to manage the team of simulator Engineers and technicians on a day to day basis to achieve the established goals and objectives of the technical department.
  • Coordinate delivery and qualification of new simulators and other training devices; plan and execute engineering updates when required.
  • Overall responsibility for an extensive inventory that includes spare parts, materials and consumables.
  • Responsible for the regulatory compliance and the certification of the FSTD’s by various local and external aviation authorities
  • Responsible for achieving and sustaining the established operational KPIs on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis.
  • Responsible of training center Budget
  • Create annual CapEx and OpEx budgets and control expenditures.
  • Responsible for cost management for corresponding cost centers
  • Assure the highest level of customer service is delivered by staff to all customers.
  • Responsible for the implementation of a quality assurance program that includes performance measures for training device reliability.
  • Responsible for ensuring and sustaining the highest level of Environment, Health and Safety compliance as per the established Global EHS policies and practices. Promotes and foster safety culture within the technical team.
  • Develops the talent pipeline (hiring), drives corporate culture and leads all employee management activities
  • Performs employee management activities such as resources allocation, performance evaluation, and employee development for the assigned team members
