Job Summary
As a Senior Tools Technical Artist at EA SPORTS, your mission is to lead and implement efficient and high-quality content production tools and technologies for our Sports Shared Initiatives. You will work at the forefront of content creation and technology to elevate our Sports games and enable next-generation features. This role involves prototyping and developing tools, pipelines, systems, and optimizations that integrate with existing systems and push production boundaries. You will take ownership of assigned areas, understand requirements, develop solutions, and resolve technical issues, collaborating with various teams.
Must Have
- Lead and implement efficient and high-quality content production tools and technologies
- Prototype and develop tools, pipelines, systems, and optimizations
- Take ownership of assigned areas, including understanding requirements and resolving technical issues
- Partner with Leaders, Technical Artists, Artists, game teams, and other Sports Tech central teams
- At least 6+ years of cinematic/games production experience
- A bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in a related field
- Effective at communicating with different audiences: artists, engineers, and managers
- Proficient scripting/programming in Python and C#
- Expert knowledge of 2D and 3D art packages such as Maya, Photoshop, and Houdini
- A solutions provider for meeting quality targets within technical constraints
- Experience with asset optimization challenges/techniques
- Willingness to jump into the unknown and solve new problems; ability to think creatively
- A Passion for Games

Your Responsibilities:
As a Senior Tools Technical Artist, your mission is to lead and implement efficient and high-quality content production tools and technologies for our Sports Shared Initiatives, working at the forefront of content creation and technology to elevate our Sports games to the next level and enable next-generation features. You are experienced in the Technical Art field with expertise in coding and architecting tools that form the backbone of production for other TAs and Artists. Main responsibilities include prototyping and developing tools, pipelines, systems, and optimizations that integrate with our systems and push the boundaries of what we can do in production.
Senior Technical Artists are expected to take ownership of their assigned areas, including understanding requirements, developing solutions or prototypes, and resolving any technical issues that arise during development. You will partner with other Leaders, Technical Artists and Artists on the team, as well as collaborate with the game teams and other Sports Tech central teams. You can be from a Computer Science, Art, Design, Mathematics, or Engineering background; however, you must demonstrate a comfort level in working with both art and science.
Your Qualifications:
- At least 6+ years of cinematic/games production experience.
- A bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in a related field.
- Effective at communicating with different audiences: artists, engineers, and managers.
- Proficient scripting/programming in Python and C#. (C++ is a bonus, but is not required).
- Expert knowledge of 2D and 3D art packages such as Maya, Photoshop, and Houdini.
- A solutions provider, especially as it pertains to developing techniques to meet quality targets within technical constraints.

- A willingness to jump into the unknown and solve new problems; the ability to think creatively to resolve technical challenges and limitations.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
The ranges listed below are what EA in good faith expects to pay applicants for this role in these locations at the time of this posting. If you reside in a different location, a recruiter will advise on the applicable range and benefits. Pay offered will be determined based on a number of relevant business and candidate factors (e.g. education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, or business needs).
PAY RANGES
- British Columbia (depending on location e.g. Vancouver vs. Victoria) *$119,600 - $167,300 CAD
Pay is just one part of the overall compensation at EA.
For British Columbia, we offer a package of benefits including vacation (3 weeks per year to start), 10 days per year of sick time, paid top-up to EI/QPIP benefits up to 100% of base salary when you welcome a new child (12 weeks for maternity, and 4 weeks for parental/adoption leave), extended health/dental/vision coverage, life insurance, disability insurance, retirement plan to regular full-time employees. Certain roles may also be eligible for bonus and equity.
