As a Senior Policy Advisor at Deliveroo, you'll be a key member of the global Communications & Policy team, reporting to the Group Director. Your responsibilities include advising on legislative and regulatory developments (primarily in the UK), shaping Deliveroo's response, and driving outcomes. You will collaborate with public affairs colleagues on campaigns, identify opportunities to enhance Deliveroo's reputation, and lead initiatives focused on net-zero targets and healthier consumer choices. The role requires working from the London HQ (Cannon Street) for at least 3 days a week and managing a wide range of internal and external stakeholders. You'll also contribute to the development and implementation of Deliveroo's sustainability strategy.

You will work within Deliveroo’s integrated global Communications & Policy team, reporting to the Group Director for Policy and Sustainability. 

You'll lead Deliveroo’s thinking on a range of live and contentious public policy issues across its 10 markets - helping shape the direction of regulation in a way that supports our riders, merchant partners, consumers and communities. You'll work with stakeholders across the company, as well as those at a national and local level, making sure our company positions are heard and understood, as well as bringing the views of the outside world into Deliveroo so we are proactively shaping our operating environment. 

In addition to this, you’ll support the development and delivery of Deliveroo’s first comprehensive sustainability strategy: executing against our six environmental and social priorities to ensure the company understands - and is positively managing - its environmental and social impact. 

This role will require you to work from our London HQ (Cannon Street) for a minimum of 3 days per week. 

What you’ll do:

  • Advise the business on legislative and regulatory developments (the role is global, but the majority of this will be UK), proactively shaping our response and driving an outcome in the business 
  • Working with public affairs colleagues to support and inform their PA campaigns across markets
  • Identify new and interesting opportunities for Deliveroo to build its reputation among political and external stakeholders. 
  • Lead thinking on how Deliveroo can meet it’s net zero targets (on top of existing capital investment programmes), and how it can support consumers make healthier choices when using our service. 

What we're looking for:

  • Experience and knowledge of the UK policy making process - for example in Westminster or Whitehall 
  • In-depth understanding of the political landscape 
  • Experience of working in policy roles - for example in the Civil Service, a think tank, or another company. 
  • Experience of managing a wide range of senior internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to condense complex policy issues into easy to understand material for both written and oral communications.
  • An ability to drive an outcome, especially where there is little clarity (at the beginning) on what needs to be done
  • Experience of public policy connected to the future of work, ecommerce, digital taxation, sustainability of public health would be an added bonus.
