Responsibilities include managing issues, risks, and change requests, providing project management support for strategic initiatives, and serving as the main point of contact for stakeholders. The role also involves developing workflows, producing reports, creating project plans, organizing meetings, leading project teams, and ensuring project success.

About the Role 

We are seeking an experienced project manager to support the next phase of a new AI product for researchers. You will be adept at managing complex, agile projects with a broad range of stakeholders at all levels. You will take initiative and proactively find new solutions to complex problems.  

This role does not directly provide project management support to the development team. 

Role Responsibilities 

  • Manage issues, risks and project change requests to ensure successful and on-time delivery. 

  • Provide project management support for a complex initiative with C-suite and other stakeholders, which is of strategic importance. 

  • Assume the role as the main point of contact for internal and external project stakeholders throughout the delivery of the project. 

  • Develop and enhance operations workflow and best practice. 

  • Produce and analyse reports for key stakeholders. 

  • Responsible for creating, owning and implementing a full project planThis would include identifying the project milestones, dependencies, resources, risks & issues and deliverablesThis will include scheduling of components of a project, taking into account the requirements and needs of other stakeholders. 

  • Organising and chairing regular project update meetings, setting appropriate KPIs and OKRs, tracking progress against plan and keep project teams and steering groups updated on progress. 

  • Lead project teams covering all relevant internal and external stakeholders. 

  • Where relevant, establish on-going monitoring and reporting to support projectsEnsure projects are delivered successfully against set objectives and within the context of best practice guidelines as required by the business and external stakeholders. 

  • Create and communicate regularly to all team members and stakeholders objectives, schedules, deadlines, detailed budgets, and all other project parameters and constraints; during the life of the project, troubleshoot and respond quickly to issues to reduce impact on time/cost/quality. 

  • Manage project budgets, monitoring expenditure and efficiency. 

  • Where relevant, facilitate strong relationships with internal stakeholders and other relevant business stakeholders and develop activities to support shared objectives. 

  • Contribute to and support internal communications, providing regular updates on progress and confidently present to stakeholders as needed.  

  • Adapt in a fast-paced environment, prioritise tasks and lead on additional project responsibilities as required. 

 

Experience, Skills & Qualifications 

Essential 

  • Strong leadership, diplomatic and motivational skills including the ability to lead up, across and down multiple business units/ departments. 

  • Extensive demonstrable experience of project management, including tracking and planning projects. 

  • Self-motivated, decisive with the ability to adapt to change and competing demands. 

  • Demonstrate decisiveness in resolving business problems, making decisions and identifying priorities. 

  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written. 

  • High attention to detail, organised and proactive. 

  • Ability to solve complex and detailed problems using an analytical and data driven approach.  

  • Confident in establishing and maintaining strong relationships with internal and external project stakeholders. 

  • Advanced people management skills and relationship-building: ability to manage relationships at a distance. 

  • Ability to work under pressure and prioritise work accordingly. 

  • Proficiency with a project management tool. 

  • Demonstrable experience of project managing complex projects in matrix structures. 

  • Strong relevant experience in a project management position. 

  • Demonstrable customer-centric focus. 

  • Track record of managing external agencies, freelancers, consultants and suppliers including supporting tender process and selection and ongoing oversight. 

  • Demonstrable commercial accumen. 

 

Desirable 

  • Knowledge and experience in research or publishing industries.
