Senior Software Test Automation Engineer

About the Role:

We are hiring a Senior Test Automation Engineer to strengthen the quality and reliability of Open Insights, our enterprise-grade analytics platform. This role is ideal for someone who combines hands-on automation expertise with a deep understanding of data-centric systems, and who thrives in a fast-paced, cloud-native environment.

The role focuses on designing and implementing robust automated testing strategies across data pipelines, APIs, and reporting layers, ensuring platform integrity, scalability, and governance. You will collaborate closely with engineering, product, and analytics teams to embed quality early in the development lifecycle and drive continuous improvement in testing practices.

Responsibilities:

• Design and implement automated test frameworks for data pipelines, APIs, and reporting components using Python and SQL.
• Develop and maintain test suites that validate data integrity, transformation logic, and metadata consistency across ingestion and presentation layers.
• Collaborate with data engineers and product teams to define testable requirements and ensure coverage across functional and non-functional aspects.
• Perform data quality testing across large datasets, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and consistency.
• Develop and maintain automated tests that run in containerized environments using Docker, orchestrated via GitHub Actions.
• Contribute to the evolution of QA strategy, including test data management, mocking, and performance testing.
• Monitor and report on test coverage, defect trends, and quality KPIs.
• Advocate for best practices in test automation, code quality, and observability.
• Support governance and compliance efforts by validating data lineage, access controls, and auditability.

Requirements:

Must Have:

• Strong proficiency in Python for test automation and scripting.
• Working knowledge of SQL for data validation and transformation testing.
• Experience with automated testing frameworks (e.g. PyTest).
• Familiarity with CI/CD workflows using GitHub Actions, including test automation integration and deployment pipelines.
• Experience testing APIs and data services.

Nice to Have:

• Exposure to Power BI and testing embedded analytics/reporting.
• Understanding of big data tools such as Snowflake and Azure Data Lake.
• Experience with data quality testing frameworks or methodologies.
• Knowledge of infrastructure-as-code principles and test environments provisioning.
• Familiarity with Azure cloud services, especially those used in data engineering.
