Senior Staff Engineer Systems

As a Senior Staff Engineer Systems in the WLAN MAC Systems team, you will be responsible for the design, analysis, development, and maintenance of WLAN L-MAC firmware based on 802.11 standards. Your role involves system power optimization, pre-Si design verification using scripting, collaborating with cross-functional teams, silicon bring-up, and debugging complex customer issues across MAC, PHY, and CHIP layers. You will also contribute to methodology improvements and mentor team members.

Must Have

• Design, analysis, development & maintenance of WLAN L-MAC FW in custom assembly.
• Design/Enhance system power optimization techniques.
• Pre-Si design verification of MAC layer using scripting languages.
• Working with cross-functional teams to define interfaces to L-MAC layer.
• Hands on silicon bring-up and meet MAC KPI's.
• Debugging and solving cross layer customer issues.
• Identify issues and propose design and methodology improvements.
• 8+ Masters in Electronics/Computer Science Engineering or 9+ years with Bachelors in Engineering.
• Sound basics in wireless communication systems and embedded system design / programming.
• Hands on experience of programming in Assembly language, C.
• Strong understanding of WiFI debugging tools using Wireshark.
• Familiarity with IEEE 802.11 standards is essential.

Good to Have

• Good debugging skills in C, using gdb, analyzing crashes using stack trace.
• Knowledge of Tcl/Python/System C.

As a member in WLAN MAC Systems team, you will play a key role spanning from development, implementation of protocols at L-MAC layer on 802.11standards including 802.11be, 802.11ax, 802.11ac and legacy standards.

Your Role

Key responsibilities in your new role

a. Design, analysis, development & maintenance of WLAN L-MAC FW in custom assembly.

b. Design/Enhance system power optimization techniques.

c. Pre-Si design verification of MAC layer using scripting languages like TCL/python and validate in simulation environment.

d. Working with various Cross functional teams like PHY systems, Firmware development, Hardware design teams to define, document the interfaces to L-MAC layer and enable verification

e. Hands on silicon bring-up and meet MAC KPI's

f. Debugging and solving cross layer customer issues – working across boundaries of WLAN MAC, PHY, CHIP – while staying focused on the underlying problem.

• Your role would also require you to

a. Identify issues and propose design and methodology improvements while driving compliance of existing design flow

b. Mentor and train other team members as necessary.

c. Create collateral for internal and external use as necessary.

Your Profile

Qualifications and skills to help you succeed

• 8+ Masters in Electronics/Computer Science Engineering or 9+ years with Bachelors in Engineering in Electronics/ Computer Science.
• Sound basics in wireless communication systems and embedded system design / programming.
• Hands on experience of programming in Assembly language, C.
• Good debugging skills in C, using gdb, analyzing crashes using stack trace are preferred.
• Strong understanding of WiFI debugging tools using Wireshark etc.
• Familiarity with IEEE 802.11 standards is essential.
• Knowledge of Tcl/Python/System C would be a plus.
• Ability to work with large, global, cross functional team.
• Good communication and presentation skills.
