Job Summary

The Systems Engineer applies expertise in systems engineering, overseeing and executing activities like detailed requirements decomposition, system design, integration, and problem-solving. This role involves complex analyses, creating system artifacts (RVTM, ICD), directing hardware/software integration, and ensuring compliance. The engineer collaborates with stakeholders, prepares technical reports, manages risks, and mentors junior engineers, contributing to innovative solutions for diverse technical challenges.

Must Have

  • Execute development, management, and allocation of system requirements.
  • Perform complex analyses and trade studies for system concept selection.
  • Create and control systems engineering artifacts (RVTM, ICD, architecture diagrams).
  • Devise solutions to complex problems with in-depth analysis.
  • Direct hardware/software integration and system-level integration testing.
  • Collaborate with senior stakeholders to communicate technical concepts.
  • Prepare technical reports, system documentation, and test plans.
  • Conduct risk management and technical issue resolution activities.
  • Tertiary qualification in system engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, information systems, or relevant technical discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree.
  • Proficiency in preparing Business Requirement Document (BRD), High Level Design (HLD), and System configuration document.
  • Proficiency in writing and producing documentation for system specifications and test procedures.
  • Experience in performing UAT and Verification & Validation.
  • Experience in debugging using log management tools like Grey logs, Splunk.
  • Basic knowledge on SQL server.
  • Experience using DOORS requirements traceability tool.
  • Experience using model-based design methods (SysML or UML) and associate software applications e.g. Rhapsody.
  • Advanced ability using typical PC software such as word processors, databases, flowcharts, project schedulers, and spreadsheets.
  • Experience in preparing and presenting information using a variety of media to various internal and external stakeholders and customers.
  • Experience using JIRA.
  • Experience working in an Agile environment.

Job Summary:

The Systems Engineer is a qualified, practitioner responsible for applying knowledge and expertise within the field of systems engineering. This role involves overseeing and executing interdependent systems engineering activities, including detailed requirements decomposition, system design, integration, and problem-solving, requiring sophisticated analytical techniques. The Systems Engineer manages tasks of moderate scope, works independently on problems of diverse scope, and creates innovative solutions based on analysis and evaluation of various factors. This position involves significant interaction with internal and external stakeholders and requires adaptive communication styles for different audiences.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Execute the development, management, and allocation of system requirements to system elements and subsystems, overseeing the refinement of lower-level requirements flowed down to other engineering disciplines.

2. Perform complex analyses and trade studies to guide system concept selection, ensuring system architecture and design align with operational concepts.

3. Create and control systems engineering artifacts such as Requirements Verification Traceability Matrixes (RVTM), Interface Control Documents (ICD), architecture diagrams, design documents, system and service workflows, test cases, test plans, test procedures, and test reports.

4. Devise solutions to a range of complex problems where evaluation of information requires an in-depth analysis of identifiable factors and creative problem-solving techniques.

5. Direct and oversee hardware/software integration, system-level integration testing, and requirement verification, ensuring compliance with established requirements and project standards.

6. Collaborate with senior stakeholders, internal and external, to communicate technical concepts, resolve problems, and influence decision-making on technical matters.

7. Prepare technical reports, system documentation, and test plans while ensuring clarity and compliance with project requirements.

8. Conduct risk management and technical issue resolution activities, providing innovative and effective solutions to complex challenges.

9. Mentor and provide guidance to junior engineers, offering technical expertise and professional development support.

10. Provide artifacts, data, and technical advice to support proposal efforts.

11. Develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders, ensuring effective collaboration and communication to meet project objectives.

General Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Comply with Cubic’s Quality Management System.

4. Comply with security in accordance with established policies and procedures of relevant organizations.

Background and Experience:

  • Tertiary qualification in the field of system engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, information systems, or other relevant technical discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years of related experience with a Bachelors degree; or 3 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD without experience
  • Proficiency in preparing Business Requirement Document(BRD), High Level Design (HLD) and System configuration document. Proficiency in writing and producing documentation for system specifications, test procedures.
