Autodesk is seeking a Senior UX Designer to enhance product development from conception to manufacturing, focusing on how AI influences Fusion. This role involves supporting experience design for Fusion Assemblies, developing scalable assembly interactions, and collaborating with cross-functional teams. The designer will also participate in broader teams to enhance 3D modeling and assembly experiences through AI and automation, prototyping and testing AI-driven interactions, and conducting user testing for design refinement.
Must have:
  • Partner with product managers, engineers, and designers on Fusion Assemblies
  • Develop UI and interaction design prototypes

  • Proficiency in Adobe Suite and Figma, and experience using Jira, Confluence, Airtable, and PowerPoint
  • Strong analytical thinking and skilled in user-centered design
  • Effective communication and presentation skills in English
  • Ability to work collaboratively within cross-functional teams across time zones
  • Experience with Autodesk products, CAD/CAM technologies (AutoCAD, Fusion, Mastercam, SOLIDWORKS, On Shape, Blender, Creo), or designed solutions for complex, multi-faceted experiences like data visualization, 3D modeling, and/or simulation
  • Experience conducting user research, including interviews and usability testing, and effectively applying learnings and insights to improve designs

  • Bachelor's or equivalent work experience in user interface (UI) and interaction design for software and/or SaaS solutions in related fields like architecture, industrial design, or mechanical engineering

Autodesk is seeking a creative and results-driven Senior UX Designer to join our team and help shape how AI influences the future of product development through our leading design and make product, Fusion.

We are dedicated to building tools that empower people to imagine, design, and make a better world. Our clients range from those creating everyday consumer products to those working on large-scale machinery, electric vehicles, and digital factories.

This role offers a unique opportunity to support experience design for Fusion Assemblies, developing scalable assembly interactions of multiple types and collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to validate concepts and refine design iterations. Additionally, the role will participate in broader teams to enhance 3D modeling and assembly experiences through the use of AI and automation.

This position is based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, and offers an opportunity to work on cutting-edge AI-powered software and product design that impacts users worldwide.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with product managers, engineers, and designers to shape and collaborate on our core Fusion Assemblies efforts.
  • Develop UI and interaction design prototypes to enhance exploration and internal alignment on design directions. Show adaptability across desktop software, tablet apps, smartphone applications, and browser-based apps.
  • Assist in developing and refining assembly interactions that consistently scale across diverse assembly types, from general mechanical designs to specific ones like complete consumer products, printed circuit boards, and factory workspaces.
  • Conduct user testing for design refinement and iteration. Collaborate with the user research team to ensure timely, actionable feedback.
  • Prototype and test AI-driven interactions, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and user trust.
  • Participate in innovation sprints and activities to disrupt 3D modeling and assembly experiences with generative artificial intelligence and other forms of automation.
  • Operate in a dynamic, iterative setting, aligning customer needs, business demands, and the latest technology developments, including AI, with a focus on user-centered design principles.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master's degree in UX Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Design, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3-5 years professional experience in UX design within software, AI, or manufacturing environments.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Suite and Figma, and experience using Jira, Confluence, Airtable, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong analytical thinking and skilled in user-centered design.
  • Effective communication and presentation skills in English.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within cross-functional teams across time zones.
