Job Summary
As a Software Application Engineer, you will provide local support to the project and system teams for front office activities, including SYS teams, validation teams, and clients. Your main responsibilities involve pre-analyzing software issues, handling new modification requests, and clarifying software requirements. You will also support system calibration and integration activities, assist during SYS/SW integrations, and help validation teams during product testing on test benches and vehicles, reporting issues with preliminary analysis.
Must Have
- Ensure SIQ status monitoring with stakeholders and SW team
- Understand and clarify requirements with clients
- Pre-analyze returned parts from production or clients
- Pre-analyze client tickets, write clear analysis reports, collect evidence and data logs
- Support system calibration and integration activities
- Support calibration-related processes and tools
- Responsible for assigned calibration data subset
- Assist SYS PTL during SYS/SW integrations and validation teams during product testing
- Report detected issues with preliminary analysis to SW project manager
- Engineering degree or equivalent master's
- Minimum 3 years experience in software architecture or development, ideally in automotive industry
- Familiar with V-cycle and requirements management tools
- Fluent English level (>3.5 Bright)

- Experience and/or knowledge in embedded electronics
- Comfortable with software but open to other areas
- Curiosity about the automotive industry and propulsion systems

The Valeo site located in Étaples-sur-Mer (62) is a Research & Development center and a production site. It brings together 1,200 employees around the design and manufacture of propulsion systems (Alternator, Inverter, etc.).
We are recruiting a Software Application Engineer.
Your missions:
Under the responsibility of the project's software team leader, the software application engineer provides local support to the project and system team within the framework of front office activities. Support for front office activities includes SYS teams, validation teams, and clients.
The mission of the position is to provide assistance for the pre-analysis of software problems and new modification requests, as well as for the clarification of software requirements.
Within the framework defined by the software team leader, the software department manager, and the quality manager (architecture, components, process), the software application engineer has the following responsibilities:
Technical missions
- Ensure SIQ status monitoring with the various stakeholders and the SW team
- Understand, with the help of the SW function manager, the different requirements and clarify them with the client, and provide support to answer questions and answers related to SIQ
- Perform a pre-analysis of parts returned by production or the client to identify potential problems and baseline data
- Pre-analyze client tickets assigned to them by the software project manager, write a clear analysis report, and collect evidence and data logs
- Support system calibration and integration activities
- Support calibration-related processes and tools
- Responsible for the subset of calibration data assigned to SW responsibility
- Assist the SYS PTL during SYS/SW integrations and validation teams during the different product test cycles on test benches, vehicle tests, and provide clear reports to the SW project manager on detected problems, environmental conditions, with a preliminary analysis of impact and defects.
General missions
- Participate in knowledge capitalization (RAISE, standardization, improvement proposals)
- Participate in the process improvement plan
- Respect Valeo's general objectives in terms of service ratio, 5S, daily and monthly meetings
- Integrate the CIP, CLEAN, QRQC, LLC mindset
- Participate in software department meetings
- Environmental and safety missions
- Within the framework of ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 certifications, commit to safety and environmental issues
Contributor to:
- Carry out activities in accordance with the business development plan of their PG/PL;
- Review internal requirements, client requirements, specifications;
- Be responsible for robust design/validation in compliance with economic objectives;
- Support technical architecture and standardization missions;
- Respect standardization rules;
- Support design reviews, internally and with suppliers.
Its scope of action may include: all or part of the design, integration, validation of blocks / products
Respect Business processes and design rules:
- Assist Business design simulations/coding/validation;
- Assist Business design calculations, including worst-case/statistical cases, and assist thermal studies;
- Assist Business tests.
Follow-up of direction
- Report on the progress of their tasks;
- Report risks.
About you:
- You hold an engineering degree or an equivalent master's degree.
- You have a minimum of 3 years of experience and a good foundation in software architecture or development, ideally acquired in the automotive industry.
- You are familiar with the V-cycle and have used a requirements management tool.
- Our environment is strongly internationally oriented (multi-site teams, world-class clients), hence a fluent English level is required (>3.5 Bright)
- Experience and/or knowledge in embedded electronics, comfortable with the software part but wanting to do something else.
- You are curious about the automotive environment and propulsion systems.
- You are motivated and enjoy working in a team.
