CAE's Technology and Product Development (TPD) group is seeking a Software Engineer to join their team in Tampa. This role focuses on full-stack web application development, contributing to projects that create synthetic environments, training, or mission planning solutions. The engineer will work with C# .NET, Python, and TypeScript to build high-performance, containerized training applications, participating in all phases of the Agile software development lifecycle.

Must Have

• Develop and implement new products, redesign existing products, and perform research and testing on product concepts
• Perform effectively as part of a project team
• Collaborate with Technical Leads and Product Managers to design, develop, test, and deploy new features and enhancements
• Code, integrate, test, and document software/systems in support of products and R&D projects
• Participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle (SDLC) in an Agile environment
• Troubleshoot, debug, and upgrade existing systems
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, software, or computer science
• Formal software programming training classes
• Proficiency in a major front-end framework (Angular or React)
• Backend development using C# and .NET
• Experience building and consuming RESTful APIs
• Foundational knowledge of relational databases, with hands-on experience using PostgreSQL
• Familiarity with containerization technologies (Docker and Kubernetes)
• Basic working knowledge of Python & Bash for scripting
• Good understanding of CI/CD pipelines and version control systems like Git
• Familiar with Linux terminal commands and scripting
• Experience with MS Visual Studio and VS Code
• Eligible for DoD Personal Security Clearance
• U.S. citizen

Summary

The Technology and Product Development (TPD) group oversees multiple projects that focus on creating synthetic environments, training, or mission planning and awareness. The TPD Software Engineer will focus on full stack web-application development, working with a team of software engineers to build high performance, containerized training applications. At CAE we use a combination of C# .NET, Python, and TypeScript.

• Responsible for coding, integrating, testing, and documenting software/systems in support of products and R&D projects.
• Participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle (SDLC) in an Agile environment.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and upgrade existing systems.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, software, or computer science.
• Must have had formal software programming training classes.
• A major front-end framework, specifically Angular or React for building responsive and dynamic user interfaces.
• Backend development using C# and the .NET
• Building and consuming RESTful APIs.
• Foundational knowledge of relational databases, with hands-on experience using PostgreSQL.
• Exposure to messaging systems like Kafka and caching systems like Redis.
• Familiarity with containerization technologies, primarily Docker and container orchestration platforms like Kubernetes (K8s)
• A basic working knowledge of Python & Bash for scripting, tooling, or minor service development.
• Good understanding of CI/CD pipelines and version control systems like Git.
• Familiar with Linux terminal commands and scripting.
• Experience with MS Visual Studio and VS Code.
• Experience with Machine Learning and Data Analytics; Virtual Reality; Cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, GCP); and 3D Modeling a plus.
• Related skill areas should include technical writing and presentation skills.
• Must be eligible for DoD Personal Security Clearance
• Good communication and organizational skills
• May include travel
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret English language professional journals, technical procedures, or government specifications.
• Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers.

Security Responsibilities

Must comply with all company security and data protection / usage policies and procedures. Personally responsible for proper marking and handling of all information and materials, in any form. All government and proprietary information will be accessed and stored electronically on company provided resources.

• Incumbent must be eligible for DoD Personal Security Clearance.

Work Environment

• Duties performed in an office environment and manufacturing facility.
• Must be able to work overtime on and off-shifts as required.
• The employee is on call 24x7 for the resolution of problems and issues.
