We offer merchants an end-to-end payments solution that provides authorization and settlement capabilities, as well as instant access to funds and payouts. We also help merchants connect with their customers, process exchanges and returns, and manage risk. We enable consumers to engage in cross-border shopping and merchants to extend their global reach while reducing the complexity and friction involved in enabling cross-border trade.

Job Summary:

What you need to know about the role
We’re looking for an experienced Python developer with hands-on experience building REST APIs using Tornado or Flask, and familiarity with chatbot frameworks. This role will focus on enhancing our operations chatbot and intelligent alert handling initiatives.
The ideal candidate is a pioneer—someone excited to work not only on existing applications but also to help shape complex and innovative AI-driven solutions.

The RaaS AES Team is part of PayPal’s Engineering Platforms & Risk as a Service (RaaS) pillar. We are a dynamic group of engineers committed to operational excellence, innovation, and delivering high-quality solutions that empower PayPal’s risk products globally.

Our team focuses on building tools and platforms that streamline workflows, enhance observability, and drive automation across critical operational processes. We work closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, data scientists, and DevOps engineers, to ensure seamless collaboration and impactful results.

Job Description:

Your way to impact

• Enhance PayPal’s operations chatbot and intelligent alert handling systems.
• Build scalable and reliable backend services that improve observability and streamline workflows.
• Collaborate on AI-driven initiatives to tackle complex operational challenges.

Your day to day

• Design, develop, test, and deploy backend services using Python.
• Build REST APIs using Tornado or Flask.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions.
• Debug and resolve production issues to ensure system reliability.
• Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to peers.

What do you need to bring

• 2 + years of Strong programming skills and expertise in Python.
• Strong understanding of algorithms, data structures, and system design.
• Experience with REST API’s, Web Services, and Unit Testing.
• Experience in refactoring existing code base and in understanding existing implementations to decide to refactor or rewrite.
• Good understanding and hands on experience with databases such as MySQL/Oracle/BigQuery etc.
• Good understanding and hands on experience with BI Tools such as Tableu/Looker/Power BI etc.
• Familiarity with microservices architecture, and cloud platforms.
• Familiarity with machine learning, data engineering, LLMs, RAG applications, or MCP servers is a plus but not required.
