Job Description

About the Role:

As a Solution Architect, you design and guide the implementation of software systems that address business and client needs. You work across multiple technologies and delivery streams, ensuring that solutions integrate systems, services, and teams in a coherent and sustainable way. You operate at programme or platform level, shaping architecture options that balance functionality, quality attributes, and delivery constraints. The role is technology-agnostic, focused on selecting and shaping solutions that meet objectives and deliver business value. Solution Architects at Endava collaborate closely with client and internal teams, maintaining consistency of design, supporting delivery through technical leadership, and ensuring alignment with enterprise standards and good engineering practice.

Responsibilities:

• Design and document system architecture using established models, templates, tools, principles, and practices.
• Define technology strategies and drive architectural decisions, considering organisational context, environments, and external dependencies.
• Assess industry and technology trends and develop proof-of-concept prototypes to validate potential solutions.
• Review solution designs, development estimates, and implementation approaches to identify risks and ensure efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
• Conduct software assessments and produce documentation and visuals that clearly communicate both technical and business perspectives.
• Collaborate with and guide development teams throughout the project lifecycle, offering direction and mentorship when needed.
• Ensure architectural solutions align with security, compliance, and operational standards across on-premises and cloud environments.
• Support delivery by participating in backlog refinement and technical ceremonies to preserve solution integrity and manage technical debt.

Your industry insight will shape strategies that address specific challenges and opportunities, enabling high-impact business and technology outcomes.

Required skills:

• Fluent English communication and presentation skills.
• Ability to communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical audiences and facilitate consensus among diverse stakeholders.
• Leadership and collaboration skills, including mentoring, influencing without authority, and guiding cross-disciplinary teams.
• Proficient in designing and articulating architecture across application, data, and infrastructure layers.
• Ability to connect quality attributes (performance, scalability, usability, observability, etc.) with business and technical decisions.
• Experienced in applying architectural patterns, modelling techniques, and structured methods to define and communicate solutions.
• Applied knowledge of programming paradigms, frameworks, and design principles.
• Capable of evaluating and selecting technologies objectively based on context, constraints, and value.
• Knowledge of the software lifecycle, engineering practices, and integration across systems and platforms.
• Skilled in designing and integrating solutions using cloud services and hybrid environments.
• Familiarity with programme-level concerns such as dependencies, coherence of design across streams, and architecture governance.
• Awareness of AI fundamentals and patterns (for example, RAG, tool-calling, human-in-the-loop) sufficient to evaluate solution suitability and collaborate with specialists when AI capabilities are part of the design.
• Comfortable using AI assistants and productivity tools responsibly (for documentation, coding, analysis, or summarisation) while maintaining data-handling and confidentiality standards.

Preferred skills:

• Practical experience in developing proofs of concept or contributing directly to implementation.
• Understanding of organisational dynamics and stakeholder management in complex environments.
• Strong technical writing and documentation skills.
• Experience planning and coordinating IT and business initiatives.
• Awareness of business value drivers, including total cost of ownership (TCO).
• Ability to define and advocate for architecture principles and best practices.
• Familiarity with cloud computing models, architectures, and relevant technologies.
