Job Description

As a Solution Architect for the Endpoint squad at Thales in Hengelo, you will be instrumental in standardizing, modernizing, and digitalizing IS/IT collaboration environments. You will work with workplace applications and services like Citrix, Microsoft Server, Windows 10/11, SCCM, and MDM tools. Your role involves translating business requirements into IS/IT solutions, validating technical designs, and leading the maintenance and development of solutions. You will collaborate with other architects, stay updated on emerging technologies, and ensure proper solution roll-outs, contributing to a high-tech, agile IT department.
Must have:
  • Understand end-to-end business requirements and translate these to IS/IT solutions.
  • Validate technical designs with security department, enterprise architects and other architects.
  • Describe and decide how solutions and processes will look like and interact using modelling tools.
  • Take the lead in maintenance, improvement and development of IS/IT solutions.
  • Implement / refine / explore enablers from the architectural runway.
  • Collaborate with other architects & Thales Group and exchange best practices & tools.
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and trends and determine their applicability.
  • Ability to read high-level architecture designs and translate these into low-level designs.
  • Provide recommendations to address potential threats.
  • Implement technical ways of working and guidelines for proper solution roll-out.
  • Has a (technical) bachelor or master degree.
  • Has proven experience (>5 years) as a solution architect, preferably within a similar domain.
  • Has a positive mindset, responsible, decisive, analytical and result-oriented.
  • Is assertive and thorough.
  • Has an understanding of Architectural Frameworks (e.g. TOGAF).
  • Is an excellent planner and works well in a dynamic environment.
  • Has strong social and communication skills.
  • Is flexible, stress-resistant and organizationally strong.
  • Is fluent in English and Dutch.

Job Details

Your typical day starts with a brief standup with the squad in which you update each other and define actions. During standups squad members discuss what went well, what could be improved and where they still need help. Afterwards, take your time with a cup of coffee to work on some e-mails and questions. Then, it is time to work on solutions and architecture within the workplace domain.

As a Solution Architect for the Endpoint squad you can help the team with finding solutions related to workplace applications that are used within Thales. This includes applications and services such as Citrix (platform and netscalers), Microsoft Server, Windows 10/11, SCCM, printing, Omnissa Workspace One - Mobile Device Management, Dell Wyse Thin Client Management, and PRTG monitoring tool. You help architect, challenge, and provide leadership to standardize, modernize and digitalize our IS/IT collaboration environments and applications landscape.

Your contribution to the squad:

  • Understand end-to-end business requirements and translate these to IS/IT solutions;

  • Implement technical ways of working and guidelines to ensure a proper roll-out of solutions by the engineers.

About the IS/IT Department

In this position, you will be part of the IS/IT department. The IS/IT department is a team of 170 highly skilled and motivated professionals. We have embraced the Agile way of working and have 18 squads working in DevOps mode providing IT services to our 3500 Thales Netherlands colleagues. IS/IT is at the core of the Thales digital transformation, there is a close relationship between IS/IT and business.

We aim to deliver best in class IT solutions to our Thales Netherlands colleagues. This is done within our agile IT teams who work in close interaction with the colleagues in the business. For the Endpoint squad we are looking for a Solution Architect. This squad is responsible for a broad variety of products and services related to the workplace. Your new squad is also part of the Endpoint tribe within Thales group. The tribe is responsible for the digital workplace within Thales.

The Solution Architect Workplace works on the architecture and solutions for our environments and applications together with the Enterprise Architect(s), other Solutions Architects and Security department.

About you

We are looking for a colleague who:
