Tala is seeking a highly organized and proactive Senior Accountant to support its growing operations across Latin America (Guatemala, Dominican Republic, Panama, others). This role focuses on ensuring accurate accounting, tax compliance, and financial reporting for regional entities, adhering to local GAAPs and US GAAP. The ideal candidate will possess strong regional expertise and a deep understanding of cross-border accounting practices, preferably within fintech or high-growth environments. Responsibilities include leading close processes, preparing financial statements, coordinating tax compliance, and improving internal controls.
Must have:
  • Lead month-end and year-end close processes for multiple LATAM entities.
  • Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements under local standards and US GAAP.
  • Coordinate timely and accurate tax compliance in each jurisdiction.
  • Oversee payroll accounting and related accruals across multiple countries.
  • Support internal and external audits and assist with group-level reporting.
  • Partner with global accounting and tax teams to ensure consistency in policies and processes.
  • Continuously improve internal controls, documentation, and accounting workflows.
  • Act as point of contact for regional accounting and compliance matters.
  • Leverage NetSuite Oracle (or similar ERP) for accounting operations and reporting.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of accounting experience, preferably across more than one LATAM country.
  • Strong knowledge of local accounting and tax regulations in LATAM and working knowledge of US GAAP.
  • Solid experience with tax compliance and supporting audits.
  • Excellent Excel skills and familiarity with NetSuite Oracle or similar ERP.
  • Fluent English (written and spoken).
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced and remote-first environment.
Good to have:
  • Prior experience in a Big 4 accounting firm.
  • Experience working in fintech, startups, or regulated financial institutions.
  • Familiarity with cross-border accounting, transfer pricing, and intercompany transactions.

We are looking for a highly organized and proactive Senior Accountant to support our growing operations across Latin America (Guatemala, Dominican Republic, Panama, others). This role will focus on ensuring accurate accounting, tax compliance, and financial reporting for our regional entities, in accordance with local GAAPs and US GAAP. The ideal candidate will bring strong regional expertise and a deep understanding of cross-border accounting practices in fintech or high-growth environments.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead the month-end and year-end close processes for multiple LATAM entities.
  • Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements under local standards (NIF, NIIF, etc.) and US GAAP.
  • Coordinate timely and accurate tax compliance (ISR, IVA/IGV, DIOT, etc.) in each jurisdiction, in collaboration with local tax advisors.
  • Oversee payroll accounting and related accruals across multiple countries, ensuring compliance with local labor and social security obligations.
  • Support internal and external audits and assist with group-level reporting.
  • Partner with the global accounting and tax teams to ensure consistency in accounting policies and processes.
  • Continuously improve internal controls, documentation, and accounting workflows across countries.
  • Act as point of contact for regional accounting and compliance matters, including liaising with external advisors and local tax authorities.
  • Leverage NetSuite Oracle (or similar ERP) for accounting operations and reporting.

What You’ll Need

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of accounting experience, preferably across more than one LATAM country.
  • Strong knowledge of local accounting and tax regulations in LATAM (e.g., Guatemala, Dominican Republic,Panama, Peru, etc.) and working knowledge of US GAAP.
  • Solid experience with, tax compliance, and supporting audits.
  • Excellent Excel skills and familiarity with NetSuite Oracle or similar ERP.
  • Fluent English (written and spoken) – essential for collaboration with global teams.
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced and remote-first environment.
