Job Summary

The Senior Director, Live Category Activation will lead how eBay’s categories come to life through live commerce. This leader will translate strategic direction from category leaders into engaging, scalable live experiences that connect buyers, sellers, and inventory in new ways. They will define how categories perform in live environments—from marketing and content to seller enablement and pricing strategy—while ensuring consistency and creativity across the program. This role requires a strategic yet hands-on leader who can merge storytelling, category insight, and operational rigor. They will help build the framework for live commerce activation at eBay, enabling sellers to create compelling, repeatable live shopping experiences that scale globally.

Must Have

  • Build and scale Live categories and business in North America
  • Develop and execute playbooks and strategy for different Live formats and categories
  • Set seller and buyer segments and strategy for eBay Live
  • Manage end-to-end execution for content, programming, activations, and IRL events
  • Partner with category leaders, marketing, and operations for inventory, content, and pricing strategies
  • Scale eBay Live programming into a globally replicable model
  • Build scalable playbooks and seller training for eBay Live tools
  • Lead creative testing and highlight activations
  • Explore opportunities to build or enhance a content studio

About the Role

The Senior Director, Live Category Activation will lead how eBay’s categories come to life through live commerce. This leader will translate strategic direction from category leaders into engaging, scalable live experiences that connect buyers, sellers, and inventory in new ways. They will define how categories perform in live environments—from marketing and content to seller enablement and pricing strategy—while ensuring consistency and creativity across the program.

This role requires a strategic yet hands-on leader who can merge storytelling, category insight, and operational rigor. They will help build the framework for live commerce activation at eBay, enabling sellers to create compelling, repeatable live shopping experiences that scale globally.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and scale Live categories and business in North America
  • Develop and execute playbooks, strategy for different Live “formats” and category playbooks to scale eBay Live across multiple categories
  • Set the seller and buyer segments and strategy for eBay Live to scale supply, demand and platform
  • Manage end-to-end execution for content and programming, activations, and IRL events
  • Partner with core category leaders, marketing, and operations to align on inventory, content, and pricing strategies
  • Develop and execute live commerce activation strategies across multiple categories.

Requirements

  • 12+ years of experience in ecommerce, live commerce, digital retail, or related strategic leadership roles.
  • Proven ability to translate business strategy into consumer-facing programs or activations.
  • Strong leadership and team management experience with cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Deep understanding of content, storytelling, and live shopping engagement strategies.
  • Experience developing scalable playbooks and frameworks for seller enablement.
  • Demonstrated creativity, strategic agility, and operational excellence.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-moving, ambiguous environment and deliver measurable result
