Job Summary
Western Digital is seeking a Staff Engineer for their Engineering team. This role involves defining and collecting data from various facility systems, performing data cleansing, generating insights from data analysis, and creating automated dashboards using BI tools. The engineer will conduct deep dive analysis for cost reduction and energy saving projects, provide actionable recommendations, and support the transition to systematic processes using automation and AI/Machine learning. The position also includes utility cost analysis and tracking.
Must Have
- Define and collect data from various Facility systems (CMMS, Energy Monitoring, PLC logs, sensor data)
- Perform Data Cleansing & Shaping on facility and maintenance data
- Analyze data to identify anomalies, track breakdown rates, energy consumption, and system performance metrics
- Create and maintain automated Dashboards (Power BI/Tableau) for KPIs
- Conduct in-depth analysis for cost reduction and Energy Saving projects
- Translate technical data into actionable recommendations for Preventive Maintenance and system improvements
- Transition manual work to systematic processes using automation and technology
- Leverage AI and Machine learning for trend prediction and process optimization
- Provide utilities cost analysis including new product cost analysis
- Support FE&M Cost reduction program / energy saving program management and control
- Summary cost saving projects status for the department
- Analysis and tracking for production, supporting area and main utility supply systems
- Coordinate with groups to measure and collect utility consumption
- Conduct electrical cost analysis and tracking
- Bachelor’s or Higher degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Computer Science Engineering
- 3 - 5 years’ Experience in related field

- Excellent verbal and Written communication skills in Thai and English
- Strong analytical and logical thinking for problem-solving
- Strong understanding of industrial Utility Systems (HVAC, M&E) and manufacturing plant operational needs
- Ability to communicate technical findings and deliver data-driven stories effectively
- Foundational knowledge of programming languages like Python for advanced data manipulation and statistical analysis

Job Description
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Data Sourcing and Collection: Define and collect data from various Facility systems, including CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System), Energy Monitoring Systems, PLC logs, or sensor data for utility systems such as HVAC, Electrical, Water, and Air Compressor systems.
- Data Preparation: Perform Data Cleansing & Shaping on facility and maintenance data to ensure high data quality and readiness for analysis.
- Insight Generation: Analyze data to identify anomalies, track breakdown rates, energy consumption costs, and measure system performance metrics (e.g., OEE or MTTR).
- Reporting and Visualization: Create and maintain automated Dashboards (e.g., using Power BI/Tableau) to regularly present key performance indicators (KPIs) to the management and engineering teams.
- Deep Dive Analysis: Conduct in-depth analysis to support cost reduction initiatives and Energy Saving projects within the department.
- Actionable Recommendations: Translate complex technical data into clear, actionable recommendations that guide decisions on Preventive Maintenance schedules and system improvements.
- Transition manual work to systematic process using automation and technology and digital tool.
- Leverage AI and Machine learning to predict trends, optimize processes and enhance decision-making.
- Provide utilities cost analysis including new product cost analysis.
- Support FE&M Cost reduction program / energy saving program management and control.

Qualifications
REQUIRED:
- Bachelor’s or Higher degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Computer Science Engineering.
- 3 - 5 years’ Experience in related field.
- Excellent verbal and Written communication skills in Thai and English.
SKILLS:
Soft skill:
- Problem-Solving: Possess strong analytical and logical thinking to determine the root cause of issues from large, complex datasets.
- Business Acumen: Demonstrate a strong understanding of the industrial Utility Systems such as HVAC, M&E and the operational needs of a manufacturing plant.
- Communication & Presentation: Possess excellent ability to communicate technical findings and deliver data-driven stories effectively to both technical engineers and managers.
Technical skill:
- Proficiency in Microsoft office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) for data analysis, reporting and documentation.
- Statistics and Math: Proficiency in basic statistical concepts and calculations.
- BI & Visualization: Expert skill level in using BI Tools like Power BI or Tableau for data visualization and dashboard creation.
- Database Querying: Strong capability in writing SQL Queries to extract data from various databases (e.g., SQL Server).
- Data Handling: Basic knowledge of ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes and tools (e.g., SQL Server Integration Services, Power Query).
- Programming (Plus): Foundational knowledge of programming languages like Python for more advanced data manipulation and statistical analysis is highly preferred.
