Job Summary
Western Digital is seeking an Industrial Engineer Intern to join their team. The intern will be responsible for analyzing and optimizing manufacturing processes, conducting work measurement and time studies, applying Lean principles for waste reduction, and supporting capacity planning. This role involves data collection and reporting to drive continuous improvement efforts within production. Candidates should be pursuing a Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering or management field and commit to a 4-6 month internship.
Must Have
- Study current manufacturing and production processes to identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and areas for improvement.
- Recommend solutions to optimize throughput and reduce cycle times.
- Conduct time and motion studies to establish standard times for operations and develop a basis for labor costs.
- Apply Lean principles, including value stream mapping and Kaizen, to reduce waste and enhance productivity.
- Analyze production capacity, workforce availability, and equipment utilization to support efficient resource allocation and manage production demands.
- Understand OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness).
- Collect and analyze data on production rates, equipment performance, and operational metrics.
- Generate reports to communicate findings and support continuous improvement efforts.
- Pursuing a bachelor's in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Operations Management, Statistics, Computer science, or a related field.
- Internship student in the cooperative education program (CWIE) is required to have an internship period of at least 4-6 months.
Good to Have
- Knowledge in capacity planning and supply chain planning in a manufacturing environment.
- Project experience related to Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies or any Productivity Improvement.
- Basic knowledge of statistical analysis and data interpretation.

Job Description
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Process Analysis & Optimization: Study current manufacturing and production processes to identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and areas for improvement. Recommend solutions to optimize throughput and reduce cycle times.

Qualifications
REQUIRED:
- Pursuing a bachelor's in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Operations Management, Statistics, Computer science, or a related field
- Internship student in the cooperative education program (CWIE) is required to have an internship period of at least 4-6 months
PREFERRED:
- Knowledge in a capacity planning and supply chain planning in a manufacturing environment
- Project Experienced related with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies or any Productivity Improvement
- Basic knowledge of statistical analysis and data interpretation.
SKILLS:
- Technical Proficiency: Basic knowledge of industrial engineering tools and concepts, such as time studies, line balancing, and layout optimization.
- Analytical Skills: Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail when analyzing processes and identifying areas for improvement.
- Communication: Effective written and verbal communication skills to work with cross-functional teams and explain technical concepts to non-technical team members.
- Software Skills: Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint) and exposure to CAD software (AutoCAD) for layout design.
- Project Management: Basic understanding of project planning, ability to prioritize tasks, and work efficiently to meet project deadlines.
- Demonstrate a good level of English proficiency
