Job Summary
Thales is recruiting a Team Leader for Operations in Crossgar, United Kingdom. This role involves leading and supporting an operations team in daily tasks, mechanical and/or electrical assembly, and product testing. The Team Leader will ensure process and quality requirements are met, facilitate daily meetings, and maintain HSE standards. Candidates should have experience in mechanical assembly, basic electrical testing, and lean manufacturing techniques, along with good manual dexterity and the ability to read engineering drawings.
Must Have
- Lead a team of assembly and test/repair staff in manufacturing and/or repair.
- Support the APRU Manager & Activity Manager in planning and task distribution.
- Responsible for assembling products as per the production schedule with focus on quality, cost and schedule.
- Ensure the cell follows and maintains company processes and procedures.
- Facilitate daily meetings with the operations cell team on KPI’s, schedule and delivery targets.
- Deploy and ensure the team is capable of maintaining and improving throughput requirements to routed times.
- Liaise with support APRU teams (Manufacturing Engineering, Quality Engineering & management).
- Respond to first-level Andon, analyze problems, and escalate issues.
- Provide training, coaching and mentoring for team members on standards.
- Responsible for the HSE standards within the cell and team.
- Experience of mechanical Assembly processes.
- Experience of basic electrical testing.
- Good manual dexterity in order to work with complex assemblies.
- Ability to use small hand tools and measuring equipment (e.g., feeler gauges, clock gauges and torque tools).
- Ability to follow manufacturing instruction sheets.
- Ability to read basic engineering drawings.
- Knowledge and experience of Lean manufacturing/Business improvement Techniques.
- Reliable team player, capable of working on own initiative within a team environment.
- Willingness and flexibility to support activities at other Thales sites.
- Open to future shift patterns and overtime requirements.
- Ability to obtain and maintain Security Clearance (SC).

Team Leader
We’re recruiting a Team Leader for the Operations. This role will lead and support the operations team on day to day basis in daily tasks and any escalations.
Additionally, as part of the role, you would be responsible for mechanical and/or electrical assembly, testing of products in a team environment, and ensuring process and quality requirements.
Key responsibilities
- Lead a team (without workday managerial responsibility) of assembly and test/repair staff in the manufacture and/or repair of customer and developmental items.
- Support the APRU Manager & Activity Manager in the planning and distribution of tasks and be responsible for work deployed throughout the team.
- Responsible for assembling products as per the production schedule with focus on quality, cost and schedule.
- Ensure the cell follows and maintains company processes and procedures in an effective and efficient manner. Identify any process improvements within the cell.
- Responsible for facilitating daily meetings with the operations cell team on KPI’s, schedule and delivery targets.
- Deploy and ensure the team is capable of maintaining and improving throughput requirements to routed times and ensure quality of work /reporting is maintained.
- Liaising with support APRU teams (Manufacturing Engineering, Quality Engineering & management) to develop team working and ensure that safety, cost, quality and schedule are met.
- Respond to the first-level Andon, propose an analysis of the problem or concerns raised by team members and escalate any problems detected through the appropriate channels
- Provide training, coaching and mentoring for team members on standards. Identify and improve work standards alongside Activity Manager.
- Responsible for the HSE standards within the cell and team. Ensure a safe working environment, PPE adherence, risk assessments, hazards and 5’s are maintained.

Please note current working hours are due to change and any successful applicants must be open to future shift patterns. Overtime will also be required.
