Job Summary

Thales Alenia Space is seeking a Telecommunication Payload Program & Engineering Delivery Manager for its Space Inspire programs. This role involves global management of contractual and engineering commitments for the Payload subsystem, acting as the programmatic interface with clients and internal/external partners. Responsibilities include managing reviews, deliverables, technical arbitrations, costs, deadlines, and coordinating engineering activities, while also managing risks and fostering knowledge capitalization.

Must Have

  • Ensure programmatic relationship with the client, TAS project team, and all internal managers and external partners involved in Payload activities.
  • Be accountable for contractual and engineering commitments of the Payload, managing associated reviews and deliverables.
  • Manage technical and programmatic arbitrations related to the Payload, validating final decisions in coordination with the project manager.
  • Be responsible for the costs and deadlines of the Payload subsystem, reporting to the Project Manager.
  • Prioritize and coordinate engineering activities, allocating resources appropriately.
  • Manage Payload risks and opportunities, ensuring follow-up and escalation.
  • Ensure knowledge capitalization throughout the project and share feedback within the Telecom engineering community.
  • Technical experience in telecommunications payloads.
  • Solid experience in project management and/or engineering activity management with client interactions.
  • Good knowledge of telecommunication satellites and End-to-End system aspects.
  • Proficient English level for communication and negotiation.

Your daily life

The Toulouse Champollion site brings together satellite system engineering activities, the design and production of payloads, the development and qualification of ground segments. It integrates a research center and an industrial accelerator for start-ups and ventures, as well as activities dedicated to low-temperature science, more precisely to the development and production of micromechanical coolers for demanding markets.

The evolution of the satellite telecommunications market leads Thales Alenia Space to offer increasingly flexible payloads, capable of being reprogrammed in orbit (Software Defined Satellite). In this innovative context, and for the Space Inspire programs of the Telecommunications Business Line, Thales Alenia Space is looking for a Telecommunication Payload Program & Engineering Delivery Manager.

Integrated within a core Payload team of approximately 10 people, you will interface with all internal and external stakeholders. The position combines contractual, programmatic, and technical challenges, from contract notification to satellite delivery in orbit.

YOUR DAILY LIFE

As CAM/EDM Payload Program, you are responsible for the global management of contractual and engineering commitments of the Payload subsystem.

In this capacity, you:

  • Ensure the programmatic relationship with the client, the TAS project team, and all internal managers and external partners involved in Payload activities.
  • Are accountable for the contractual and engineering commitments of the Payload, and manage the associated reviews and deliverables, in compliance with deadlines, both internally and with the client.
  • Manage the technical and programmatic arbitrations related to the Payload, with the support of relevant experts, and validate the final decisions in coordination with the project manager.
  • Are responsible for the costs and deadlines of the Payload subsystem (depending on the organizational scope), and ensure associated reporting to the Project Manager.
  • Prioritize and coordinate engineering activities, allocating resources appropriately to the program's challenges.
  • Manage Payload risks and opportunities, in conjunction with your team, and ensure their monitoring and escalation.
  • Ensure knowledge capitalization throughout the project and share feedback within the Telecom engineering community.

YOUR PROFILE

Engineer by training or equivalent bac+5, do you have technical experience in the field of telecommunications Payloads? Do you have solid experience in project management and/or engineering activity management, with regular interactions with clients? Do you have good knowledge of telecommunication satellites and End-to-End system aspects? Is your English level sufficient to communicate and negotiate with your partners and clients in an international context?

Are you performance and customer satisfaction oriented, do you appreciate teamwork and knowledge sharing? Are you recognized for your excellent interpersonal skills, your ability to listen, convince, and mobilize various stakeholders?
