Job Description

Rippling is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join their IT Products team. This role involves leading mission-critical projects, delivering platform capabilities end-to-end with high quality, and owning product spaces within the Integrations Platform. The platform enables customers to connect hundreds of third-party applications to Rippling's core applications using APIs and developer tooling. The vision is to automate employee-related business systems and centralize high-value workflows, insights, and data for compliance. The engineer will influence architecture and technology selections, solve hard technical problems, and build and grow engineering skills.
Must have:
  • 8+ years backend engineering experience
  • Build large-scale user-facing apps/dev tools
  • Expertise in complex distributed services
  • Strong CS fundamentals & design patterns
  • Cross-functional communication
  • Passion for customer impact
Good to have:
  • Proficient in Python, Django, MongoDB
  • Familiar with SAML/OIDC SSO
  • Experience with data pipelines
  • Experience with workflow orchestration
  • AWS experience
  • Working knowledge of observability tooling

About The Role:
The Integrations Platform at Rippling enables our customers to connect hundreds of 3rd party applications to the Rippling core applications through the power of APIs and developer tooling. We are on a mission to build a comprehensive suite of capabilities and interfaces to rapidly build and integrate thousands of third-party apps and data with Rippling’s platform to fuel business growth.

Our vision is to drive a significant amount of automation in employee-related business systems and centralize the following:

  • Insights and reporting that drive business decisions
  • Data that powers compliance processes and regulatory output

What You'll Do:

  • Lead mission-critical projects and deliver platform capabilities end-to-end with high quality
  • Have clear ownership of one or many products or platform spaces
  • Get exposure to partners and customers in different business domains, who will help provide feedback for your product space
  • Learn and understand how your product can help Rippling continually differentiate itself
  • Build and grow your engineering skills in different challenging areas and solve hard technical problems
  • Influence architecture, technology selections, and trends of the whole company


Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of professional work experience as a backend engineer
  • Experience building large-scale user-facing applications and developer tools
  • Expertise in building complex distributed services with high availability and strict SLAs
  • Strong CS fundamentals and knowledge of architecture and common design patterns 
  • Proven cross-functional communication with product stakeholders
  • Passion for being in a product-focused environment where everyone cares deeply about customer impact
  • Bonus points if you are proficient in Python, Django, and MongoDB
    Bonus points if you’re familiar with SSO with SAML and/or OIDC protocols
  • Bonus points if you’ve built data pipelines and workflow orchestration systems
  • Bonus points if you’ve previously worked with AWS and have working knowledge of observability tooling
