Job Description

Patel, Greene and Associates (PGA) is seeking a motivated STEP Intern for a May–August program in various Florida offices (Orlando, Bartow, Tampa, Fort Lauderdale). This role offers hands-on experience in transportation engineering projects, including Roadway, Drainage, Structures, and Traffic/ITS. Interns will contribute to real project design tasks, gaining proficiency in construction plans production, geometry design, quantity calculations, and project cost estimation, while supporting technical staff.

Purpose & Need

Patel, Greene and Associates (PGA) is seeking a motivated and curious STEP Intern to gain hands-on experience while contributing to transportation engineering projects. Available in our Orlando, Bartow, Tampa, and Fort Lauderdale offices, the May–August program offers exposure to PGA’s core disciplines, Roadway, Drainage, Structures, and Traffic/ITS, as well as Planning, Landscape Architecture, Facilities Preservation, Marketing, GIS, PD&E, Design Development, and Environmental. Interns will work alongside staff on real project design tasks, exploring the many facets of the transportation industry.

What You’ll Do

  • Gain proficiency with construction plans production
  • Understand the concepts of geometry design
  • Understand the development of pay item quantities and calculations
  • Understand the process for development of a project cost estimate
  • Effectively research projects and assist with marketing efforts
  • Gain knowledge in all design standards, manuals, and criteria
  • Requires regular technical supervision of tasks by technical or senior staff
  • Complete tasks and projects within established supervisor’s expectations
  • Support technical and senior staff with the development of plans, documents, and reports
  • Compile documents in PDF for review or submittal
