SW Engineer

Visa’s Technology Organization is seeking dedicated, curious, and energetic Software Engineers to join its Platform as a Service team. This role involves inventing, designing, building, and testing software products for Visa’s internal hosting cloud platform. Responsibilities include designing scalable and secure code, collaborating on software solutions, developing monitoring tools, and taking ownership of the end-to-end lifecycle of platform products. The ideal candidate will have a growth mindset, expertise in development languages, and experience with modern services and web applications.

Must Have

• Design scalable, secure, and reusable code and systems.

• Ability to develop and use APIs (SOAP, REST, JSON, XML).
• Knowledge of application server and database software.
• Experience configuring CI/CD pipelines (GIT, Jenkins, Maven).
• Hands-on experience in Version control (SVN, Git, Bitbucket).

The Opportunity:

We are looking for dedicated, curious, and energetic Software Engineers who embrace solving complex challenges on a global scale. As a Visa Software Engineer, you will be an integral part of a multi-functional development team inventing, designing, building, and testing software products. Visa's Platform as a Service team is responsible for building and maintaining Visa’s internal hosting cloud platform, enabling teams across the company to develop and launch shared platforms for various technologies with speed and reliability.

The Work itself:

• Design code and systems that touch 40% of the world population while influencing Visa’s internal standards for scalability, security, and reusability
• Collaborate multi-functionally to create design artifacts and develop best-in-class software solutions for multiple Visa technical offerings
• Responsible for the architecture, design, development, and implementation of software applications.
• Evaluate and introduce technology tools and processes that enable Visa to develop products and solutions, to embrace business opportunities and/or improve operational efficiency.
• Develop and implement unified control center and monitoring tools to measure, monitor, and report on platform, data availability, utilization, capacity trend, and overall health metrics.
• Develop and design moderately advanced architect solutions that are robust and scalable, considering integrations with other solutions across the internal technical ecosystem
• Take responsibility for the end-to-end lifecycle of platform products, including design, implementation, testing, deployment, monitoring, troubleshooting, and ongoing support.

Essential Functions:

• Supports relationship with product owners to gather and refine requirements for one product task, adding and taking into account existing tools and solutions within a product.
• Begins to develop and design architect solutions, considering integrations with other platform solutions.
• Provides relevant knowledge on the development of user documentation of solutions and follows standard processes in user documentation.
• Plays a minor role in the development and delivery of new features within a product.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree, OR 3+ years of relevant work experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Have expertise of Core Java, JEE technologies, Web technologies, JavaScript and container-based technologies.
• Develop and maintain front-end code (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) to support package and product development, including extending functionality. Apply strong user interface design principles and deliver UI/Web solutions using Angular, React, JavaScript, jQuery, and HTML/CSS technologies.
• Knowledge of and ability to develop back-end (e.g. Python, Java, C++, PHP) code in support of package and product development
• The ability to develop and use Application Program Interfaces (APIs) (using SOAP or REST, JSON and XML), a set of routines, protocols, and tools for building software applications that specify how software components should interact and are used when programming graphical user interface (GUI) components.
• Knowledge of and the ability to use application server, database software (e.g., applications, web-based applications, information systems) to maintain, modify, and output data.
• Experience in configuring CI/CD pipelines using industry standard tools such as GIT, Jenkins, Maven etc is needed.
• Hands on experience in Version control using SVN, Git, Bitbucket.
• Working experience with open-source technologies like Prometheus, Grafana, caching, monitoring, and messaging (Ex: Kafka) software.
• Experience in designing and building automation solutions to automate manual business processes involving complex data
• Flavors of GenAI: Experience and understanding of Generative AI technologies and their applications.
• Agentic Framework: Understanding of the agentic framework and mindset for leveraging Generative AI
