Job Description

This role involves working with digital radio and communication systems for military applications, primarily for the German Armed Forces, NATO, and allies. Responsibilities include technical analysis of customer requirements, setting up test benches, designing RF cables, managing military radio networks, and developing system architectures for complex military networks. The position also covers vehicle integration, technical control of subcontractors, and creating technical documentation, as well as analyzing and troubleshooting electronic components.
Must Have:
  • Technical recording, analysis, and processing of concepts according to customer requirements for communication solutions like digital on-board intercom systems and military radio systems.
  • Setup and configuration of test benches and test setups for communication systems.
  • Design and implementation planning of RF cables, special cables, connection cables, and connectors, considering applicable standards, costs, and deadlines, up to the creation of series products in collaboration with subcontractors.
  • Management of military radio networks.
  • System architecture for complex military (radio) networks (components, radio technologies, security considerations).
  • Vehicle integration, cable design, adapter solutions.
  • Technical control of subcontractors and supervision of procedural test series in manufacturing/production until release.
  • Creation of technical documents (cable design, management of bills of materials and cable drawings, FAI, etc.).
  • Analysis & troubleshooting of electronic assemblies and finished devices.

Your Mission

In this demanding role, you are responsible for digital radio and communication systems, mainly in the environment of the German Armed Forces, NATO, and its allies. You support our projects and programs and are a competent and reliable contact person (m/f/d) for internal Thales units and our customers for incoming technical inquiries.

This also includes the following tasks:

  • Technical recording, analysis, and processing of concepts according to customer requirements with regard to our communication solutions, such as digital on-board intercom systems and military radio systems
  • Setup and configuration of test benches and test setups for communication systems
  • Design and implementation planning of RF cables, special cables, connection cables, and connectors, considering applicable standards, costs, and deadlines, up to the creation of series products in collaboration with subcontractors
  • Management of military radio networks
  • System architecture for complex military (radio) networks (components, radio technologies, security considerations)
  • Vehicle integration, cable design, adapter solutions
  • Technical control of subcontractors and supervision of procedural test series in manufacturing/production until release
  • Creation of technical documents (cable design, management of bills of materials and cable drawings, FAI, etc.)

What we look forward to

  • Completed studies in electrical engineering or communications engineering or completed technical training as a state-certified technician or comparable
  • Experience in telecommunications, communication technology with a focus on RF technology or comparable
  • Experience in production and process management
  • Good technical understanding, strategic and pragmatic approach, and results- and solution-oriented way of working
  • Good communication skills, networked thinking, and resilience
  • Willingness to travel occasionally
