Job Summary
Motorola Solutions is seeking a Systems Engineering Intern for a hybrid position in Gatineau, Canada. The intern will assist Lead and Senior Systems Engineers with post-sale technical support, implementation of wireless communication solutions, and Command Centre solutions for Public Safety Customer accounts. Responsibilities include customer needs assessments, RF coverage analysis, equipment design, network configuration, and application integration. The role involves training followed by hands-on project assignments under senior guidance, contributing to critical communications and video security technologies.
Must Have
- Completed the first 3 years of university level courses towards a B.Sc. B.Eng. degree with a strong preference for Electrical or Computer Engineering
- Must be pursuing a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree (Electrical Engineering or other engineering or technical degree) with a graduation date of December 2026 or later
- High School Diploma is required
- Must have a Valid Passport for international travel
- Must have a current valid driver’s license and a clean driving record
- Ability to present technical materials to non-technical audiences
- Excellent interpersonal and team-work skills
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills

- Work with and assist a team including Product Engineers, Systems Engineers, Program Managers, Sales, and System Integrators to implement wireless communication solutions for voice, data and integrated infrastructure systems, and Command Centre solutions
- Assist Senior Systems Engineers with activities such as conducting customer needs assessments and analysis, performing RF coverage and interference prediction and testing, designing equipment layouts and antenna configurations, determining RF Link budgets and Telco requirements, performing operational testing, designing and configuring communications networks, integrating applications, and IP network design

- Knowledge of RF propagation, Wireless, microwave, and/or telecommunications networks
- Knowledge of or certification related to IP communication (MPLS, Ethernet, TCP/IP)
- Proficiency in spoken and written French
- A desire to explore, understand and contribute to the practice of Systems Engineering at Motorola Solutions

Job Description
Note: This is a hybrid position located in our Gatineau office. Preferred candidate will reside in the Ottawa Metropolitan Area.
Overview:
- Assist Lead Systems Engineers with post-sale technical support for the implementation of Motorola Solutions Systems and Applications for Western Canada Public Safety Customer accounts.
- Work with and assist a team including Product Engineers, Systems Engineers, Program Managers, Sales, and System Integrators to implement wireless communication solutions for voice, data and integrated infrastructure systems, and Command Centre solutions.
- Assist Senior Systems Engineers with activities such as conducting customer needs assessments and analysis, performing RF coverage and interference prediction and testing, designing equipment layouts and antenna configurations, determining RF Link budgets and Telco requirements, performing operational testing, designing and configuring communications networks, integrating applications, and IP network design.
- The intern will begin with training during the first few weeks, followed by a transition to hands on project assignments of increasing responsibility as he/she progresses under the guidance of a Senior Engineer.
Additional Requirements:
- Completed the first 3 years of university level courses towards a B.Sc. B.Eng. degree with a strong preference for Electrical or Computer Engineering
- Knowledge of RF propagation, Wireless, microwave, and/or telecommunications networks is an asset
- Knowledge of or certification related to IP communication (MPLS, Ethernet, TCP/IP) is an asset
