Systems Security Engineer

Barbaricum is seeking a Cyber Integration Engineer to join the Zero Trust Leadership Cell (ZTLC) under the EDAT Innovation Contract, supporting USSOCOM’s enterprise-wide Zero Trust transformation through FY27. This senior-level role bridges strategic architecture and execution—linking the Chief Zero Trust Architect with 12 Zero Trust Implementation Plan (IPlan) teams—to integrate complex systems, resolve technical challenges, and ensure cohesive, secure solutions across enterprise and tactical environments. The Cyber Integration Engineer drives the technical realization of USSOCOM’s Zero Trust Architecture vision, developing integration patterns and guiding implementation teams.

Must Have

• Active DoD Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility
• Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Electrical Engineering, or related field
• Minimum 12 years of progressive IT / Cybersecurity experience, including 5+ years in systems or security engineering and technical integration for enterprise-scale DoD systems
• Demonstrated expertise across multiple technical domains
• DoD 8570 IASAE Level II certification (e.g., CASP+ CE, CISSP, CSSLP)

Good to Have

• Experience supporting USSOCOM or SOF missions
• Cloud, networking, or identity certifications (AWS/Azure Specialty, CCNP/JNCIP, Okta, Ping, etc.)
• Strong understanding of Zero Trust Architecture (NIST 800-207) and DoD ZT Reference Architecture
• Broad technical knowledge across ICAM, Network Security, Cloud Security, and Data Protection
• Proven ability to troubleshoot complex integration issues involving diverse technologies and APIs
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work with cross-functional engineering teams and advise senior stakeholders
• Understanding of operational requirements in tactical edge / DIL environments

In this senior-level role, you’ll bridge strategic architecture and execution—linking the Chief Zero Trust Architect with 12 Zero Trust Implementation Plan (IPlan) teams—to integrate complex systems, resolve technical challenges, and ensure cohesive, secure solutions across enterprise and tactical environments.

The Cyber Integration Engineer drives the technical realization of USSOCOM’s Zero Trust Architecture vision. You’ll develop integration patterns, guide implementation teams, and ensure the application of modern Systems Security Engineering principles across cloud, hybrid, and SOF tactical domains. This position aligns with the DoD 8140 Systems Security Engineer (Work Role ID 651) at the Senior level.

Responsibilities:

• Serve as the technical liaison between the Chief ZT Architect and 12 IPlan teams, aligning efforts with the enterprise ZT Reference Architecture.
• Analyze and resolve complex cross-pillar integration challenges (e.g., ICAM, network segmentation, data access controls).
• Develop detailed architectural artifacts, including integration patterns, ICDs, and sequence diagrams.
• Provide expert-level “surgical augmentation” to execution teams to resolve technical barriers and accelerate delivery.
• Apply Systems Security Engineering (NIST 800-160) best practices throughout the SDLC.
• Validate integration feasibility across multi-cloud (AWS, Azure), hybrid, on-premises, and SOF tactical edge environments.
• Support Architecture Review Boards, technical deep dives, and solution validations.
• Develop and execute integration test plans and transition strategies for capability handoff to sustainment.
