Systems Manager (GIS Experience)

We’re hiring a GIS Systems Manager for a hybrid opportunity based in New York City with one of our premier clients—an organization leading innovation through enterprise technology solutions.

Are you a strategic thinker with a passion for leading technical teams and delivering impactful GIS-based solutions? Our client is looking for a seasoned Systems Manager to oversee their GIS technology team. In this role, you’ll guide the full lifecycle of enterprise GIS projects that directly support business operations and long-term objectives. You’ll work alongside senior leadership, drive alignment between business and IT strategies, and ensure the delivery of secure, scalable, and compliant GIS systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a cross-functional team responsible for delivering GIS-based solutions.

• Oversee end-to-end project lifecycles—from planning through deployment and ongoing support.

• Align GIS strategies with business objectives, IT roadmaps, and compliance standards.

• Collaborate with senior leaders and non-technical stakeholders to ensure successful outcomes.

• Manage vendor partnerships and coordinate efforts across internal IT teams.

• Ensure systems adhere to cybersecurity, disaster recovery, and regulatory compliance.

• Support change initiatives and foster continuous improvement in team processes and workflows.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).

• 8+ years of experience in IT systems development and operations (6+ with a Master’s).

• 3–5 years of leadership or management experience in a technical environment.

• Strong communication, planning, and project management skills.

• Proven experience leading technical teams and delivering complex, cross-departmental projects.

• Ability to effectively translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
