Job Description

Collaborate with the art department to enhance their workflow and maintain the art production pipeline. Analyze technical possibilities of artistic processes, propose solutions for art-related problems, and diagnose software issues. Optimize game engines, workflows, and graphics rendering. Implement custom tools in DCC packages, develop shaders for visual and technical requirements, and prototype new techniques. Select and implement studio art packages and tools. Port assets into game engines, monitor performance and visual quality, and establish workflow standards. Requires at least 3 years of experience as a Technical Artist in the games industry, strong knowledge of 3D engines (Unity, Unreal), understanding of rendering pipelines, lighting, post-processing, and physically based shading. Proficiency in shader writing, visual effects creation, 3DS Max, Motion Builder, Substance Designer, and art optimization techniques are essential.
Must have:
  • Minimum 3 years experience as Technical Artist

Job Details

Responsibilities 

  • Working together with the art department, striving to improve their workflow for the best outcomes. 
  • Setting up and maintaining the art production workflow. 
  • Analyze and feedback technical possibilities of complex artistic processes, generate proposals for the best implementation. 
  • Identify potential problems, find solutions to problems related to the art department. 
  • Diagnose software problems, understand game engines, workflows and graphics rendering and develop them, so they work more effectively. 
  • Working together with programmers for implementation optimization. 
  • Creation of custom tools in DCC packages. 
  • Development of shaders to match visual and technical requirements.
  • Designing, prototyping and implementation of new techniques. 
  • Decide what art packages and tools the studio should use, learn new techniques, and implement them into existing workflows. 
  • Port assets into game engines when art is ready and monitor performance and visual quality of ported assets as well as set workflow standards for the production pipeline. 

Qualifications 

  • At least 3 years of working experience in the games industry as Technical Artist
  • Strong knowledge of 3D engines (Unity, Unreal) 
  • You are a programmer who really appreciates what the artist does or an artist who has a very good sort of technical knack. 
  • Understanding of modern rendering pipelines used in game production. 
  • Knowledge of lighting and post processing in game engines. 
  • Understanding of physically based shading.
  • Shader writing or shader building skills. 
  • Creation of visual effects in game engines. 
  • Deep knowledge of 3DS Max, Motion Builder and Substance Designer and their automation APIs. 
  • Understanding of art optimization techniques. 
  • Ability to think creatively to overcome technical challenges.
  • Ability to create user-friendly tools/systems. 
  • Great English skills, verbally and written. 
  • Great communication skills and team-player attitude. 

Nice to have 

  • Experience in rigging and skinning preferred.
  • Experience in FX and particle animation. 
  • Understanding of motion capture workflow and working with motion capture equipment.
