Job Description

Aptiv Connected Services is seeking a seasoned Technical Lead to oversee the development of embedded software for our Vehicle Interface Processor (VIP) platform. This role will provide technical leadership across firmware and application development, guiding a team of engineers through the full software lifecycle—from concept to production support. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise, strong leadership skills, and a passion for innovation in automotive connectivity. Key responsibilities include leading design, development, and maintenance of VIP firmware on FreeRTOS, AUTOSAR Classic, and embedded Linux, architecting low-level drivers, defining power-management strategies, and guiding secure-boot chain development. Collaboration with cross-functional teams, mentoring engineers, and ensuring compliance with industry standards are also crucial.
Must have:
  • Lead design, development, and maintenance of VIP firmware and application software.
  • Expertise in C/C++ development on microcontrollers using FreeRTOS, AUTOSAR Classic, and/or embedded Linux.
  • Architect and oversee integration of low-level drivers and middleware.
  • Define and implement power-management strategies.
  • Guide secure-boot chain development, including cryptographic image signing and key management.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (hardware, systems, cloud, validation).
  • Mentor and coach embedded software engineers.
  • Drive code reviews, CI/CD automation, and Agile development practices.
  • Lead troubleshooting and root cause analysis for complex system-level issues.
  • Ensure compliance with MISRA-C/C++, ASPICE, and cybersecurity protocols.
  • 8+ years of experience in embedded software development, with at least 2 years in a technical leadership role.
  • Strong background in secure-boot implementation, bootloader development, and board-level bring-up.
  • Proven experience with automotive communication protocols (CAN, CAN-FD, LIN, Ethernet).
  • Deep understanding of processor-side communication buses and low-power ECU design.
Good to have:
  • Master’s degree in a related discipline.
  • Experience with connected-vehicle OTA frameworks and dual-bank image strategies.
  • Prior work on telematics, data-acquisition loggers, or automotive IoT devices.
  • Knowledge of functional safety and cybersecurity standards (ISO 26262, UNECE WP.29).
