Job Description

Lionbridge Games is seeking a Technical Software Test Engineer. This role involves reviewing software requirements, developing and executing test plans and cases, tracking defects, and analyzing test results. You will collaborate with development teams, contribute to process improvements, and stay updated on testing methodologies. The position starts as a 6-month contract with potential for permanent placement, operating in a hybrid model primarily remote. Ideal candidates have 3+ years in software/game testing and 6+ months in VR testing, with strong communication skills in French and English.
Must have:
  • Review and understand software requirements and specifications.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to clarify ambiguities.
  • Develop test plans outlining scope, approach, resources, and schedule.
  • Define test objectives, methods, and deliverables.
  • Design detailed test cases based on requirements and user stories.
  • Create test scripts and automated tests if necessary.
  • Ensure test coverage by mapping test cases to requirements.
  • Identify and prepare necessary test data.
  • Execute manual tests to validate functionality, performance, and security.
  • Perform functional, regression, integration, system, and user acceptance testing (UAT).
  • Identify, document, and report bugs and issues.
  • Use defect tracking tools (e.g., JIRA, Bugzilla) to log and manage defects.
  • Work with developers to reproduce and resolve issues.
  • Analyze outcomes of test executions and determine severity and impact of defects.
  • Communicate test results, progress, and issues to stakeholders.
  • Prepare test summary reports and metrics.
  • Participate in retrospectives and post-mortem meetings.
  • Suggest improvements to the testing process and tools.
  • Keep up-to-date with the latest testing tools, methodologies, and best practices.
  • Attend training sessions and workshops.
  • Work closely with developers, product owners, and team members to ensure quality.
  • Participate in daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and other Agile ceremonies.

Lionbridge Games is looking for avid gamers and experienced testers. The position will begin as a 6-month temporary contract, with the possibility of permanent placement thereafter.

This position is currently hybrid, with the role being primarily remote. The standard schedule is 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM EST.

Please note that this setup is subject to change, and there may be a future requirement to work on-site. Additionally, initial onboarding will take place in office for your first day.

What You Will Do:

  • Review and understand the software requirements and specifications.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders (product managers, developers, business analysts) to clarify ambiguities.

Test Planning:

  • Develop test plans that outline the scope, approach, resources, and schedule of intended testing activities.
  • Define test objectives, methods, and deliverables.

Test Case Development:

  • Design detailed test cases based on requirements and user stories.
  • Create test scripts and automated tests if necessary.
  • Ensure test coverage by mapping test cases to requirements.

Test Data Preparation:

  • Identify and prepare the necessary test data required for executing test cases.

Running Tests:

  • Execute manual tests to validate the functionality, performance, and security of the software.
  • Perform different types of testing such as functional, regression, integration, system, and user acceptance testing (UAT).

Defect Tracking:

  • Identify, document, and report bugs and issues.
  • Use defect tracking tools (e.g., JIRA, Bugzilla) to log and manage defects.
  • Work with developers to reproduce and resolve issues.

Test Results Analysis:

  • Analyze the outcomes of test executions.
  • Determine the severity and impact of defects.

Reporting:

  • Communicate test results, progress, and issues to stakeholders.
  • Prepare test summary reports and metrics.

Process Improvement:

  • Participate in retrospectives and post-mortem meetings to discuss what worked well and what didn't.
  • Suggest improvements to the testing process and tools.

Stay Updated:

  • Keep up-to-date with the latest testing tools, methodologies, and best practices.
  • Attend training sessions and workshops to improve skills.

Team Coordination:

  • Work closely with developers, product owners, and other team members to ensure quality throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Participate in daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and other Agile ceremonies if working in an Agile environment.

To Be Successful You Will Have:

  • 3+ years of experience in software or game testing.
  • 6+ months of experience with VR testing, including functionality, performance, and user experience validation.
  • Ability to independently manage and execute testing tasks with minimal oversight from a Lead.
  • Knowledge of the video game and software markets, and testing methodologies.
  • Preferred higher education in languages or technology, good command of test tracking and support tools, and MS Office.
  • Good interpersonal skills, creativity, efficiency, attention to detail, and good work organization.
  • Effective communication skills in French and English to convey findings and insights clearly.
  • Beginner level spoken English and intermediate level written English required as most clients are outside Quebec. The source language of the tests and consoles belong to clients. Test cases need to be sent in the client’s language.
