Test Automation & DevOps Lead

This is a key opportunity for a Test Automation & DevOps Lead to join a fast-growing software company. The role involves establishing automated testing frameworks, modern CI/CD pipelines, and robust release practices to reduce regression risk and enable a scalable SaaS operating model. You will lead the test automation strategy, standardize CI/CD, establish quality gates, build automated regression coverage, and partner with architecture and security to align DevOps practices, while coaching engineering teams on quality ownership.

Must Have

• Strong experience in DevOps, test automation, build/release engineering, or software quality leadership roles.
• Deep hands-on experience with modern CI/CD platforms (GitLab CI/CD preferred).
• Experience with automated testing frameworks (e.g., Playwright, Selenium).
• Strong scripting capability and experience designing scalable automation for complex, integrated systems.
• Practical experience improving release reliability in legacy or modernisation environments.
• Familiarity with cloud infrastructure, Docker, Terraform, and infrastructure-as-code practices.

The Opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity to join one of our fast growing operating companies at a pivotal point in its transformation and play a foundational role in modernising how software is built, tested, and released.

The Test Automation & DevOps Lead is hands-on technical leader responsible for establishing automated testing frameworks, modern CI/CD pipelines, and robust release practices across the platform. This role is critical to reducing regression risk, increasing delivery confidence, and enabling transition to a scalable SaaS operating model.

You will work closely with Architecture and Engineering leaders to embed quality, repeatability, and observability into the software lifecycle, while coaching teams to take true ownership of reliability and release outcomes.

What You'll do

• Own and lead test automation strategy across unit, integration, regression, and end-to-end testing.
• Modernise and standardise CI/CD pipelines, reducing manual steps and improving consistency, reliability, and speed-to-release.
• Establish clear quality gates, release readiness standards, and governance to support predictable, low-risk deployments.
• Build and scale automated regression coverage for core workflows including POS, pricing, inventory, replication, and promotions.
• Partner with Architecture and Security to align DevOps practices with infrastructure-as-code, containerisation, and secure SDLC standards.
• Implement observability, monitoring, and post-deployment validation to improve operational confidence.
• Act as a technical coach and enabler, uplifting engineering capability in automated testing, CI/CD, and quality ownership.

What You’ll Bring:

• Strong experience in DevOps, test automation, build/release engineering, or software quality leadership roles.
