Job Summary

The Perry Group, a CDM Smith company, is seeking a Traveling Superintendent (Construction Manager Power & Electrical) for large-scale industrial construction projects. This full-time, on-site role requires 100% travel across the U.S. The successful candidate will oversee field operations, ensuring safety, quality, scheduling, and contract compliance, while maintaining strong client relations and managing project schedules. Expertise in heavy industrial construction, particularly power and electrical systems, is essential.

Must Have

  • Oversee field operations for safety, quality control, scheduling, contracts, and conformance to drawings/specifications.
  • Work independently and utilize value judgment without direct supervision.
  • Prepare contract extras and progress payments for client approval.
  • Utilize expertise to ensure contractor work is correct, safe, and meets drawing intent.
  • Maintain comfortable business relations with clients.
  • Meet project schedule requirements.
  • Provide proper correspondence with clients, handling all project issues clearly, concisely, and friendly.
  • Maintain responsive, smooth relations with parallel operations within The Perry Group.
  • Maintain on-site records and files per The Perry Group document control requirements.
  • Understand The Perry Group Quality Policy Statement.
  • Follow the Quality Systems Work Instructions.
  • Provide accurate information in the Daily Reports and Quality Inspection Reports.
  • Collaborate with the Construction Manager to monitor and manage the construction schedule.
  • Six or more years of relevant experience with a Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or similar technical field.
  • Eight or more years of relevant experience with an Associate degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or similar technical field.
  • Ten or more years of relevant experience with a high school diploma or equivalent.

Good to Have

  • Experience leading construction on large-scale, heavy industrial projects, including varying subcontractor disciplines (i.e., manufacturers, food and beverage companies, chemical companies, powerplants, and substations)
  • Prior electrical experience on power projects
  • OSHA 30
  • Ability to work at project locations throughout the United States

The Perry Group is seeking an experienced Superintendent (Construction Manager) with a strong background in heavy industrial construction, particularly in power and electrical systems. This is a full-time, on-site opportunity that involves 100% travel to project locations across the United States.

Particular responsibilities may vary from project to project; however, they essentially include:

  • Overseeing the field operations of a project from a standpoint of safety, quality control, scheduling, contracts, conformances to drawings, specifications, and customer relations.
  • Working independently and utilizing value judgment without direct supervision.
  • Preparing contract extras and progress payments for client approval in collaboration with the Project Manager.
  • Utilizing expertise to ensure contractor work is correct, safe, and meets the intent of the drawings.
  • Maintaining comfortable business relations with the clients.
  • Meeting project schedule.
  • Providing proper correspondence with clients such that all project issues are handled in a clear, concise, and friendly manner.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Six (6) or more years of relevant experience with a Bachelor’s degree or,
  • Eight (8) or more years of relevant experience with an Associate degree or,
  • Ten (10) or more years of relevant experience with a high school diploma or equivalent.

The Bachelor or Associate degree must be in Construction Management, Engineering, or similar technical field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience leading construction on large-scale, heavy industrial projects, including varying subcontractor disciplines (i.e., manufacturers, food and beverage companies, chemical companies, powerplants, and substations)
  • Prior electrical experience on power projects
  • OSHA 30
  • Ability to work at project locations throughout the United States

Skills and Abilities

  • Strong computer aptitude to include basic knowledge of Microsoft Office & Excel with preferred knowledge in Microsoft.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Team player attitude.
  • Understanding of building materials and construction methods; knowledge of procedures for construction and ability to read and understand construction documents.
  • Ability to make independent decisions.
  • Cost-conscious.
  • Passionate.
  • Ability to work overtime if needed.
  • Ability to work with outside contacts, including clients, utilities, manufacturers, governmental agencies, and contractors, regarding questions or additional information needed on projects.
