USD Asset Consultant

Guru Studio, an award-winning animated entertainment company, seeks a USD Asset Consultant to optimize USD usage across its asset pipeline. This role involves auditing current processes, developing efficient asset strategies, and establishing streamlined workflows for downstream departments. The consultant will ensure adherence to correct USD practices, create replicable asset structures, and educate staff on best practices. Reporting to the VP of Technology, the position requires strong USD experience within an animation pipeline, particularly with Houdini/Solaris, and excellent communication skills.

Must Have

• Audit current processes used by each of the Asset teams and provide documentation of recommendations.
• Connect with creative leadership to understand scope of work and desired results.
• Develop asset strategies with a focus on production efficiency.
• Establish processes to streamline asset complexity for downstream departments.
• Ensure adherence to correct USD practices.
• Create examples of efficient asset structures that staff can replicate.
• Educate staff on best practices and new workflows that USD offers.
• 4-5 years minimum of USD experience in the context of an animation pipeline.
• Experience in both Feature and Episodic content creation.
• High level knowledge of Houdini/Solaris.
• Excellent interpersonal skills when interfacing with various departments.
• Communicate effectively with back end departments (FX/Finaling/Lighting).

Good to Have

• Experience working as an Asset or Surfacing supervisor.

• 4-5 years minimum of USD experience in the context of an animation pipeline.
• Experience in both Feature and Episodic content creation.
• High level knowledge of Houdini/Solaris.
• Excellent interpersonal skills when interfacing with various departments.
• Communicating effectively with back end departments (FX/Finaling/Lighting).
• Experience working as an Asset or Surfacing supervisor is an advantage.
